Freaking out!!

So I start the adn program at tomball college (lsc) in july- and I'm worried about clinical times. Some people have said they go 7am -7pm. I have two young boys and my dh works nights. Daycares are only open until 6:30 at the latest. I don't have any family close by to help out. After all this work childcare could cause me to have to give up nursing school! I would be devastated!

Does anyone have any insight on clinical schedules at lsc or how much they are willing to work with students regarding thier childcare schedules? Thanks

Probably best to contact your school and see what they have to say about times, and I'm sure your not the first parent to be going through this, and they may have suggestions

You can search the fall schedule of classes on the lone star website. You can have an idea of what your schedule will look like. In the fall you will be taking RNSG 1523, 1119, 1361, and 1301 if you haven't taken pharm already. You can play around with the schedules, and hopefully find something that works for you. I know at North Harris, there are clinical days that are split in half from 7a-1p twice a week. The clinicals at Tomball are 7a-7p one day per week. There is even one on Saturday. You might be able to find daycare for that one day. You've made it this far, everything will work out for you. Good luck!

I belive that the clinical days are one day a week. You have to be at the hospital by 6:30 and will not get out till 7:00. You will be expected to be there. There are a couple of 24hr daycares in this area. I think one is off cypresswood going towards Treswick right after aldine westfield. Im sorry I dont know the name. There also is one by northwest hospital off 1960. I hope this helps..

First and foremost, calm down.....I am graduating from Tomball in 3 weeks

. The clinicals are one day a week from 6:30 am to 6:30 pm. You typically have a choice of Mon, Tues, Fri or Sat. Many "Moms" in my class were in the same boat. They simply got with another student who had a clinical at a different time and worked out childcare (you watch her kids after daycare when she is in clinical and vice versus). You will meet these your fellow students during "Meet and Greet" this summer. Do not give up because of childcare. The people you will be in nursing school will become your family and you will help them and they will help you. You will find that during nursing school you will meet friends for life.

So, take a deep breath and know that were there is a will, there is a way.

I took Dr. Greenburg. I don't think she is teaching anymore. She was great. I don't know any of the others.

I really enjoyed the program. The last two semester have been a little stressful due to the fact that we lost our entire 2nd year faculty last semester. So, needless to say, it has been a "wild" ride. But things are settling down and are better. The teachers really care about you and as long as you put forth your best effort to learn, they will put forth their best effort to teach you. Good luck!
