First "real" hospital job...

Im a senior I at TWU-Dallas right now and Im trying to get a job as a nursing assistant/nurse tech until I graduate in December. Im sure this is a silly question, but what is the best way to go about doing this?

Ive called the HR depts at several hospitals and faxed my resume and Ive done the online applications and attached my resume to those as well, but I just feel like I should be doing something more... (I havent not had a job since I was 15 (Im 23 now) and last week the company that I have been working for (not medically related) was bought out and we all lost our jobs, so Ive been going crazy all week!) I hate just sitting around waiting...

How long before I should start hearing something?

Ugh...

Have you called and followed up on your applications with the HR offices?

How long has it been since you submitted them?

Good luck!

I sent most of them on Monday afternoon. I got a call on Tuesday for an interview for a tech position on an oncology unit... Im going to meet with them next week, but Im a little nervous because my interests lie in peds, NICU and L&D (we discussed this over the telephone, but oncology and med/surg were all she had available and I dont really care for med/surg). Havent called HR to follow up with any of the others, though... I always feel like Im being bothersome.

I got an email yesterday that a tech position in L&D at one of the Baylors opened up, so I sent a resume for that, too... hopefully that will work out.
