Fall 2009 UT Houston BSN Applicants

by Cailex

Hey everyone! I applied to UT houston and I'm waiting to hear if I got an interview. Applicants for years in the past started threads that everyone went to and kept everyone updated on information from the school, and it's nice to hear from possible (fingers crossed) other future classmates. If you don't mind, I'd also like to post our application info: GPA (science and overall), NET scores and experience.

My stats:
Overall GPA: 3.93
Science GPA: 3.75 (I think- UT link is down today
NET: composite score was 88% (96 percentile)
I'm currently employed as a CNA in a hospital (only have about a month experience so far)

Goodluck and hopefully I get some replies!

Cailex

Hey Cailex-

So get this....UT Acclerated BSN told me they mailed letters for the Accel. program like 2 weeks ago....and I just received mine yesterday and interview tomorrow!!!!!!!!! I had pretty much given up all hope for the accelerated program. I am so stoked and I want it very badly. I think it still will be a pretty competitive selection process though since they are probably interviewing 100+ and only selecting 60 to be admitted so I am told. My undergraduate GPA from Texas A&M is a 3.2, although after taking 3 classes @ Lonestar-Montgomery, A&P I & II, and Human Growth and Development and receiving all A's in those, should spike the undergrad. GPA hopefully to a 3.4 or 3.5. As of right now my nursing prereq GPA is a 3.44 and Science prereqs are 3.71. I am currently taking one more prereq though Lonestar online which is Intro to Sociology, and hopefully will receive an A in that too. Best of luck to you!!!!

Oh, also I scored a 85% total score on the NET, I hope that is good enough!

Thanks for the reply!! Now I know I need to stop asking my husband every night if I got a letter from UT yet! Congratulations on your interview, I hope you do well. That's crazy you only had one day to prepare, but I'm sure you'll happily take that since you get to interview!! Let me know how it goes

I started the application process in the spring. I got a letter 2 weeks ago for an interview for the 28th. My biggest concern is how to pay for this. I'm an older student with a previous degree. Anyone know how to get money to pay for UT if I get in?

Thanks!!

Yes, I applied to the accelerated program. I've also applied to Lonestar because Montgomery is 2 miles from my house, as so is St. Lukes, and I know I can afford the program. I would much rather go to UT, but the money is really an issue. I've got a daughter in college too.

I have applied to the Fall 2009 Generic BSN program. I have also applied for the UTMB Summer 2009 program (which I'm hoping to get into, because I believe I have a better chance of getting in to UTMB than UT-Houston), and the UTMB Fall 2009 Generic BSN program. For UT-Houston my overall GPA is 3.2, pre-req=3.37, and science=3.5. My composite net score is 77%. Everything is received except my tsi scores / exempt status.....which I was exempt, I will get this figured out soon enough.

Good luck!!

I plan on asking a current UT student to see what they recommend or if there was anything special they did- I just haven't got around to it yet! So you may want to find someone on this site who was recently was accepted and see if they have any info to share...Everyone seems pretty nice! Good luck on your interview!
