Evening RN Program HCC

by Ange07

Hi All,

I am hoping to get some info on how the evening RN program at HCC is?? I currently work full-time and am in the process of taking pre-req. I am hoping to apply to the program either next year of thereafter. I would LOVE to do the day program but if finances prohibit I will land up doing the evening.
My question is: How hard and how time consuming is the evening program. I have 2 kids at home and understand its going to be tough, I just dont know "how tough"?? If someone has taken this program at night or just has general info please post.email me and let me know.

Thanks :0)

Angie

They say you cannot work and go to school at the same time. It is highly discouraged. I am currently in the ADN program at Cy Fair, and I don't see how one can work and get all the required self study things completed. Also, just in case you did not know, HCC is not accredited. It is an "approved" school, but it is not an accredited school. Yes, you can sit for your boards once you finish, but just keep in mind it is not accredited. You can look on the BNE website to find more info on this.

Hi

Thanks for your reply I bet it must be pretty tough doing the classes at night and working 40hrs per week!

Oh just wanted to post and let you know, I contacted the HCC Nursing Department and this is a direct qoute:

"If you need information regarding whether we are accredited you can go to the website www.bne.state.tx.us and it will show that we are."

I havent checked the website yet, but intend to later.

Good luck to you!

Well, if you go to the BNE website, it clearly states they are NOT, so I am not real sure what HCC is trying to pull. They are giving out false information if they claim to be ACCREDITED. They are APROVED, but not accredited. We talked about the difference today in my Intro to Nursing class, and it does make a difference if you choose to get a BSN later on down the road. Just giving you the heads up.

This may be a stupid question, but the BNE doesn't show Cy-Fair as being accredited either, so how do you know that Cy-Fair is accredited? It actually shows all the schools in the NHCCD as only in initial approval, not full approval.

They received their full approval last year. The staff said they have been working on it now for a couple of years.

I don't think they could post this on their website if it wasn't true.
