El Centro 2nd Semester Drug List

Anyone have a list of drugs we need to know for second semester? I'm going on a roadtrip next week and thought it would be a good opportunity to start memorizing them...they took all the info off ecampus and said it won't be back up until the 2nd week in August.

Actually, I do - I'll try and attach it here. I'm not sure if it's a partial or complete, but if you go to the community tabs on e-campus, & go to the 2nd semester syllabus, the complete should be there. This has all the info though. Hope it helps!

Let me know if there is anything else you need - I saved pretty much everything from every semester.

Hi Yin Yang, I can see that you are a very organized person what is wonderful, and as a new nursing student I would like to know how to handle the first semester in general. Do we have a drug list too? is it all the information in the syllabus? what tips can you give me to be a successful student? How many weeks do we have to wait before we go to clinicals in the hospital? Thanks for your help.

Hey there - I was pretty organized, especially by the end of it. 1st semester is fundamentals - really pretty boring - just get through it. The syllabus is a good place to start if you want to get a jump on stuff. Make a list of drugs from it and look them up. I don't remember if there were many drugs in lecture, but there was in the clinical portion (during skills lab). It was about 5 weeks in it seems before we went to clinicals. Tips include, keep a copy (electronic if possible) of EVERY careplan you do & file it under the diagnosis. That way, when you have that diagnosis again, you can pull it up, make changes that apply, but it's mostly done. By 4th semester, careplans will be EASY and take no time at all. Take Beecham's careplan class the first time it is offered. It really helped. Study regularly throughout. If you do well with study buddies, then find just one or two...more than that and you waste too much time yakking. Also, keep a running excel spreadsheet of your drugs both from lecture, and from clinical. You can sort it by alphabetized drug name, and it makes it quick when doing drug list on clincal patients, and a quick study review before tests. There is lots more, and if you want to, PM me and I can send you a few things to show you what I mean. Will you be at ECC or NLC?

Your advice was extremely helpful. Although I am not attending your particular nursing school, I was wondering if you could suggest what you found the most helpful resource(s) during second semester as far as endocrine, cardiovascular, and respiratory. I appreciate any advice you could pass on. There are so many choices and it's a bit over whelming.
Thank you,
Carrie
