Dr's Office / Clinics

Hey

Do any of you work in a dr's office or a clinic? Do you enjoy it?

I have worked in a rurla health clinic for the last 12 years. I love the patients. I have grown cloae to a lot of them seeing them every month. I have also watched a lot of our babies grow up and have enjoyed that. However, it gets a bit monotonous at times and I feel like I'm i na rut. I especially miss the experience I was getting in the hospital setting. I am currently taking courses through excelsior and the thought of CPNE terrifies because I feel so behind o nthe times. I must admit though...8-5 Monday through Friday is pretty nice.

In DFW there's a chain of urgent care clinics called 'CareNow'. I declined to work for them because the starting wage was pitifully crappy at $12.75 per hour.

I was offered more than one private clinic (or larger private clinic even) job...after graduation and turned them down.... one..they didn't offer the experience I need on the floor.... and two..they pay HORRIBLY. At least from what I experienced. Then I went to nursing homes...and they paid horribly too....so am still trying to get into the hospitals...trying for a 12H ICu day shift right now as I write this actually wish me luck.

I make relatively decent pay in the clinic I work in for this area. I make more than some nurses at the local hospitals. Of course, I have been with the same PA for 12 years so that's mainly due to merit raises and such. Considering it is much closer to home than the hospitals, the hours are decent, and gas prices are what they are it's not bad at all. Plus I'm home with my kids in the evenings and weekends.
