Dallas Platt College June 23, 2008

Hi everyone. This is my first post & I'm glad that this forum is available. Everyone here has saved me so much time on research. I'm starting the June 23, 2008 Platt LVN class & I can't wait to start this new career. After getting some grant money, I don't mind all the taxes I used to pay LOL. Let me know if I have any classmates on here. Also, keep providing the great information. Thanks.

Yeah, let's support each other. I feel like this is one of my best moves ever. We had a all day orientation on 06/19/2008 & it was cool to see people from all different walks of life willing to take the challenge to become a nurse. Everyone wanted books so we could start studying but not till Monday. I can't wait till the clinicals start. Tell me how your Monday goes. Bye.

I have to agree with everything you said, this is a good move. We had orientation Friday the 20th but ours was only about 2 hours. We also did not get our books, they will be on our desks Monday. We were told all books for the whole year would be there so be ready for an armful ha ha. We did get everything else from uniforms, badges, parking passes etc.
Good luck to you on Monday ! Be sure to let me know how it goes .

I called last week, they never called me back. What are the payment methods? How much did you have to put down? Financing? If bad credit?

Thanks Matthew and Congrats

Monday & Tuesday have gone well. I'm studing for our 1st test Thursday on Intro to Vocational Nursing. We have about 2 weeks of Intro stuff then we can get to A & P & some math. We start our clinicals in October. We have about 35 people in our class. How about your's? The staff seems really helpful(found me a cheap place to get my shots & etc). Talk about the armful of books, lol. Glad we don't have to tote them all everyday. Well back to reading about the "Lady & the lamp". This is cool.

Hi, I've never had that issue so I assume it must have to do with the start of school but who knows. I recommend dealing with Marci Smith.
The school is the highest at $25,000. I think Dallas Nursing Institue is $18,500 & Concorde is in the middle I think. As for me, I paid $100 out of pocket, got $7,000ish in pell grants & have a defered student loan of $18,000ish(which a future employer will help with). As a last resort, they do have a in house payment plan they don't like to use it. I know 1 girl has till the end of the program to pay $4000. The loans have nothing to do with credit. You will have enough time to get everything done once you move here. You will need 3 references so I recommend that you have them fax you a reference sheet so you can get that done before you move. I wish you well.

Monday and Tuesday went great. We have two classes this level ..Foundations and Skills each is three hours long . We have had a quiz in foundations plus lots and I mean lots of reading ha ha .Finished the chapter about Florence and the history of nursing and the first chapter in skills ( quiz tomorrow ) plus we have about 100 medical abbreviations to learn . I have not had time to take a good breath lol but i am loving it . The instructors and staff have been great . There were about 70 (EST) people that started this go round but they break it into two classes so around 35 per class....As far as books they weigh a ton lol about 20 of them ! ( no I dont bring them all ha ha ) Ummmm math starts this week ! Yuk ! well off to read about Nursing process and critical thinking along with Infectional control ...We average about two chapters a night plus other things my head has stayed in the books ...Yep needed a break and here I am
Good luck on your fIrst test ! let me know how it goes .....
