Dallas/Fort Worth jobs

Hey there Texas Nurses
I currently live in Ohio, and am possibly thinking of moving to the Fort Worth area at some point in the future, I was just wondering what nursing in that area is like--where are some good hospitals or other facilities to look for jobs at? I'd really prefer to be getting into HHC or public health, psych, community health...although I am a new grad with only some experience in the hospital so far. How is pay for new grads in the area? Any other tips or advice would be very helpful!! If you're from that area, is it nice, do you like it? I'm just looking for somewhere new (and WARM!) to move to, I need a change of scenery!! Thanks!

I'm an LVN who moved to Fort Worth 2 years ago, from California. I have found that the job market for nurses here is rather healthy and robust for the time being.

Are you going to be an RN? New RN pay rates for hospitals hover at around $20 hourly. Some places pay $19, and others pay up to $22. New RN grad pay rates for SNFs average about $25 hourly, but the work is supposedly harder with very short orientation periods.

If you're looking to get into psych nursing, this area offers plenty of opportunities. I worked at a community psychiatric hospital in Denton as a PRN med nurse last year, and I loved that experience! Denton is in the north part of the DFW metro area.

I like the area, and it is very nice and grassy. Remember that this area is built on top of a sprawling prairie.
