Dallas area hospitals

I plan to eventually work in the North Dallas/ North Texas area too. I plan to look at Centennial in Frisco, Presbyterian of Plano and Presby of Allen, Baylor of Plano and maybe even the Denton area where they have Presby of Denton (very nice hosptial). Now if you want in Dallas itself then maybe Presby of Dallas or even Medical City or UTSW or Zale Lipsy (spelling?). I also have a friend who just LOVES it at Parkland and said that they are great with new grads.

Personally I want to stay away from RHD and Methodist Dallas and Charlton Methodist but that is just my personal feelings. Nurses that I have worked with don't seem too happy there. I get the best feedback about the Presbyterian Hosptials and the Baylor System. Hope that helps.

The best advice that I can give is do your research and look at their graduate nurse programs. Most will list some details on their websites. Also interview with them and ask lots of questions. There are posts on here that list questions to ask, just do a search.

I agree with the above poster; it is important to look at the graduate nurse programs. After all, the first place you choose to work is going to lay an important foundation for the rest of your nursing career, so you should try to go somewhere that really embraces teaching new grads. Personally, I only looked at teaching hospitals, because I knew that is where I would get the best experience and the best training and support. Even though I am only a few weeks into a new grad internship, I am so pleased with the quality of instruction I am getting. Of course, I am going to have to put forth lots of effort, but I know that I have all the tools available to enable me to be the best nurse I can be.

The teaching hospitals that I am aware of in Dallas are St. Paul, Zale Lipshy, Childrens, Parkland, and Baylor.
