Confused on future need adice.

by msadw06

Hey y'all, I am 21 years old and I have a major decision to make...I have others in family what they think but no one is giving any good advice. I have two choices and I am so confused about which way I should go. The choices are I can go to HCCs LVN program and be done in one year or in one year I could have my preqs done and apply to a major university and get my BSN. I have no I idea which to choose but the deadline is Oct. 1 for the LVN program. Any advice is welcomed and needed.

Thanks, April

Hi April,
Well, it depends on your situation. If you have the time I would say go for the BSN. I started as an LVN and now am an RN, I am going back to school to hopefully get my MSN. I hope this helps. Good luck.

I suppose it would depend on your grades up until now. I would definitely recommend the ADN or BSN route if it's possible, but it really depends on whether you'll be able to have a place to live, etc., while attending school. If you decide later to transition to a BSN from LVN, you're going to have to take all the classes anyways, but may have a less flexible work schedule to allow that. On the other hand, if you HATE being in school, then I would just go straight to the LVN, which would get you working sooner.

Hope that helps!
