Brookhaven Nursing Program--Changing?

Is Brookhaven changing their nursing program? When I try to get on the Nursing Site it says it is under construction. I was just on there Wed and it was up and running. I noticed last night and today it is not up.
Thanks
Billie

Some of the Faculty has changed they are in the process of hiring a lab instructor. I also know that they are no longer are going to do the interview process for selecting new students.

Oh great! They are no longer going to have an interview process...hmmm...they are prob going to just go off of 4.0 GPA's like everybody else. What a surprise! I can't wait until they realize that just because someone has a 4.0, that doesn't mean that they'll be a good nurse, it really just means that they can retain information they have read and be able to spit it back out. Thank goodness I am already in!

They did away with the interviewing already...I didn't have an interview and I applied for the Spring 08 semester. I haven't heard anything about them changing the admissions process. I don't think they would do that. I don't have a 4.0 GPA either!

I believe every thing is staying the same except not having the interview. I had spoken with the faculty about dropping the interview and they had said that usually they took the top 40 applicants even with the interview. So it will stay with the point system not just GPA.

The interview process was way unfair. I think it's good they got rid of it. There is no way to tell if someone is going to be a good nurse or not from a 5 minute interview. The way to tell, I think, if someone will make it through the program is by the points system. If they have a lot of points they have been trying longer, have done alot of the support classes, and are less likely to give up. The people with the highest points who had been trying several times to get in would sometimes not get in because of a less than memorable interview.

Thanks everyone for your responses. I called today and they said they are trying to make the website easier to use. Streamline the information.
I am looking in to applying there and El Centro.
Thanks
Billie

Well good luck with your application. I am in a nursing program at El Centro right now and trust me, you would probably be better off at Brookhaven. El Centro's nursing programs are very unorganized...I mean, just look at where the college is located!! I wish someone would have warned me about the school before I decided to attend.

The point system does not prove anything either. Now that I am in the nursing program, and there are two girls that are repeating the program for the second time this year and they did very well with their support courses and pre-reqs. I don't think anyone (students and instructor) will know if nursing is for them until they either volunteer in a hospital before they get into a program, or just wait until clinicals. We recently just had two girls drop out of the program because of situations they were going through in the personal lives, i.e. kids, pt job, etc. Anyhoo, point being, I don't think there are a lot of ways to tell until the person has had some sort of experience in care taking.

I think for fall I will be applying just in the El Centro program. I don't think I want to take Chem in Winter Term. I am currently taking the classes I need for El Centro Human Anatomy and HPRS.
I wish I had looked into the Brookhaven program last summer. I would have taken Chem also. So if I don't get accepted in the El Centro program then I will be taking Chem in the summer to apply at Brookhaven in the Spring.
