Austin-New grad nursing job info..Seton vs. St. David's

Hello to all.....I am currently finishing up my last semester of school and will be graduating in May. I'm currently in South Florida and will be moving to Austin around July. My question is.....which hospital(s) would you recommend to work for as a new nurse? I will be near Seton once I get out there...but I am in a toss up between them and St. David's (I believe St David's is an HCA company and I currently have 10 years in with HCA here). Also, can anyone please tell me about the pay rate out there as well?? Here in South Florida, new nurses are only starting at about $18/hr. Any info is greatly appreciated..thanks

Hello, I just recently graduated from ACC and will be starting my new career at St.Davids. If you read other post on here it will say that most people prefer Seton. I have to disagree. I had clinicals at both hospitals and loved my experinces at St.Davids. They are very slow at getting back to you but thats just where you have to be persistent. St.Davids is much more up to date and in the now than Seton. However if you get an oppurtunity to work at Brakenridge which is a Seton hospital that one is good. It is a teaching hospital and so they have alot of residents who are VERY friendly cause they are pretty much in the same boat as you. Seton does start there new grads off at a lower rate, I think its like a dollar less. St.Davids they start you off at 22, then I think its 3$ extra for nights and I can't remeber what it is for weekends. Anyways, I absolutley love St.Davids, there charting system is FANTASTIC!!!!!! Good luck to you!
