Geekgirl is completely correct. ACC is very strict on the assessment tests and having pre-reqs completed for other courses. I remember in my Anatomy class last semester, we had to provide proof of us passing the assessment test even if we were enrolled in the class. And in my Pharmacology and Intro to Microbiology class this semester my professors had to see a grade report showing that I passed Anatomy because you need Anatomy before you can take any of the other sciences.

I just took my Physiology assessment test at Northridge this past Saturday and I still have yet to recieve my results in the mail. That is what is frustrating me! I cant make it up to the Round Rock campus before they close because I work until 5pm Monday through Friday. But Geekgirl is right, one of the ways you can check to see if you passed is to keep trying to register for the Anatomy class, if it doesn't let you, either you didnt get the required score, or it wasnt entered in the system yet. I have been told it is entered in the system before the results are mailed out.

Here is what it says on the bottom of the Assessment Center page about results being entered into the ACC computers:

"The written test results will be mailed out within 7 business days after taking the test. Students do not have to wait for the mailed results, however. If a student has passed the assessment test, permission to register will be entered in the computer system within 4 business days. During the time they are normally allowed to register for classes, students may attempt to register on-line or on the phone for either anatomy or physiology on the 5th business day after taking the exam."

I took my assessments at Pinnacle. I took them in the morning, and I walked up to an office on the 10th floor at 1:00 p.m. and the lady there handed my score/letter to me.

I've heard bad stuff about ******, but the people I know who took him seem to really know their anatomy. I didn't think anatomy or physio were particularly hard, just time-consuming. There were a couple concepts in physio that took me a bit to understand, but for the most part, for me, it was learning about a science that I had no previous knowledge of. Prior to anatomy, I'd had freshman biology, chem, and physics. I took micro and pharm before physiology. I saved physio for last. Me, I wouldn't waste my time in intro to anatomy. Just go for it, study hard, and you'll be fine.

Yeah I wouldn't waste time and money on the Intro to Anatomy course either. The Anatomy courses at ACC are definitely passable. But in the end, it is all up to you. You know yourself and your learning style best.

Doh! I guess I could've just looked around the ACC site a little more and found that info on my own. thanks for leading me to it

so it seems to come down to "Official ACC Policy" versus anecdotal evidence. I'm just gonna call first thing tomorrow and hope hope hope that editor2rn's experience can be repeated. because I really don't want to sit here for 5 days watching that anatomy class fill up!

Does anyone know what teaching style ******* ******* has? I went to ratemyprofessor.com and couldn't find anything on her. So I decided I'm going to wait until the fall to take anatomy, bc the teachers that are left to chose from don't have the best reviews. Plus im not in any hurry ... I'll wait until I can get a great professor. ( I don't really smoke LoL)

So all but two of the anatomy classes are full and the ones that aren't full only one and four spots left and I can't register until Monday This is my second semester trying to get into this class.... do any of you think if I emailed one or all of the professors they could open a spot for me? I know I don't deserve any special treatment but I only have the sciences left and I NEED to get them started!!!

Well, scratch that, I checked ACCs site and they said no one can be added to a closed course unless it's a very special circumstance... I guess I am just going to have to pray that a spot opens up

Hey texascna06 - have you looked into the 6 week session of Anatomy. You are in class everyday and it is kind of crushed into such a short time, but I have heard that professor ****** ** ** is excellent. There are 6 spots left for her class. I am not sure if your work schedule will allow you to be in class everyday, but it would be a great way to prepare for nursing school. You will be in class almost everyday there also. Just a thought! If not, then I would try and register for Anatomy in the fall. More classes will be available for you.
