I'm applying to Lonestar colleges too. I applied last fall but didn't get accepted (was still in my second A&P class) I'm probably going to apply to all of them with Montgomery as my first choice cause it's closer. I am also applying to BSN programs too and will see if and where I get accepted. Does anyone know if I need to retake my Hesi or if I can use last year's application exam?

Thanks and good luck!

Good luck to you as well. what do ur points look like? u can use the hesi scores from last year they don't expire. that's what the website says anyway do u have your other pre-req's to apply to bsn programs? i thought u had to have ur chemistry, nutrition, and a couple others before applying to them. where are u going to apply for bsn? i looked at twu, but like i said i'd have to finish a lot more pre-req's first.

I think my score would be 11.48 with my HESI from last year- I may take it again to be more competitive. When I applied last year and didn't get in I took more classes instead of just waiting. I've taken just about all of the prereq's (I'm at 59 hours) I'm just ready to start a program! I was going to apply to Texas Womens but I don't have my statistics class completed (taking it this semester) and it's required before application- oh well...

well i think u have an really good chance of getting in. that's the kind of score i was aiming for so that i could be in a more confident place, but everything happens for a reason! good luck I hope you get in to the college of your choice! also just another thought on the hesi, they take the most recent not the best so only retake it if you're confident you can get a better score.

I go to Tomball - but North harris had a really low cut off this year. I bet you will get in.

I am new to this site... I have been reading posts for a few months and decided to join. I applied to Kingwood for Spring 2009, but didn't get accepted. I had a 11.178 or something like that. The cut off was 11.4. I retook my English over the mini-mester to bump my grade up to an A from a B. Now my points are 11.429. I am applying for the Fall 2009 class with my first choice being North Harris, since it is closer for me. Montgomery is my second choice. Anyone have advice on which one of the colleges has a better program?? I am really hoping to get in this time around.. I have applied 3 times with no luck.. the first 2 times were long shots because I wasn't very educated on the whole process and the competitiveness... so we shall see.. Praying and keeping my fingers crossed that it's my turn now

i think u have a pretty good shot at both considering that montgomery is one of the smallest programs out there w/ only 30 spots and their cut off was 11.44 last year and north harris has 100 spots so obviously it should be a little lower i would think. and as someone else has said, it's not a bad thing to be an alternate either b/c pregnancies and other things in life happen all the time that cause applicants to not be able to accept their spots. i know north harris has been around a lot longer, but it all depends on what teachers you get. i wish that i had the points to get in at montgomery b/c i'd rather do clinicals at memorial hermann the woodlands. i have heard that you have absolutely no choice for clinicals at montgomery, but that there is some choices available at north harris but that could be rumor... good luck to you though!

Don't despair. I spent four years trying to get in before I made it.

I think the cut-off for points has more to do with the number of points your competitors have. I don't think it's a particular number. For example when I first applied it wasn't that competitive. I had 7 points and people were getting in with 8 and 9 points. Then applications exploded and nobody was getting in with less than 11 points. So it just depends on the pool of applicants.

Hi i applying every where my points are 11.1 and I talk to the lady at north harris and she says the cut off is usually rt at 11 points so I'm hoping and praying because i have been waiting on this for years. I'm also applying to some of the LVN programs not really what I want to do but just to make feel like I'm getting somewhere. good luck everyone I hope we all get in.
