congrats to those accepted!! And for those who are in the waiting list just know there is a chance!!! I should know! I'm just finishing up my first year @ NH and it's the best!! And I was at first a waiting list and then a week before the deadline for the first accepted students to turn in their stuff I was called by Mrs. Porter!! and I was like #37! So keep the Faith!!! And just b/c I know someone will ask, my final points were 10.999.

-Now as far as CPR goes, don't take the one offered by school b/c NH nursing school requires the AHA (American Heart Assoc) and the school offeres the RED CROSS CPR, so it won't work! I took my class @ Houston NW hospital for $20-25 and I did this after I recived the phone call!
-Make sure you have all shots DONE!! I know that the reason a few people lost their spots was b/c of incomplete spots or couldn't have it done by the time required!
-Don't worry about your other choices b/c if you got in one then other school won't send you anything. I know about maybe one or two that got in NH, and that was their 2nd or 3rd choice and then by some miracle Tomball called them to tell them they had a spot open. But really, NH accepts the most, so unless you had an 11.4 or higher, I don't really think you'd get in another campus. But you wouldn't want to NH is the best!

Another thing wait until orientation to get the correct information, b/c they'll tell you exactly what you need to do and they give you about 6 weeks to turn things in so you'll have time! Really, believe some of us when we tell you ENJOY YOUR summer!! B/c you won't be able to enjoy it after school starts!! Good luck and see ya soon!!

pinkynbd_99:

did u wait until orientation to get your shots done, another person said that the best clinical choices go to those who have already gotten them done by orientation

thanks,
Jenee

I really didn't need any shots just the Tdap and TB b/c I had my shot records from childhood. SO I got that done when I got the call. About the clinicals, well I think that there's a date that they open registration for students at the same time, if you registered before then they would drop you. But I also remember that at some point all students were dropped and had to re-register, I don't know why. By the time I was accepted there was only 2 clinicals open.
From experience and from other student comments that i have this semester, it's best if you register with a full-time faculty and not an adjunct. There are about 7 of them: Ethelen Wilmore, Julie Kendall, Kathleen Rosen, Marinela Castano, Diane Springman, Katherine Ralph, Sheryl Thomas. Mostly b/c you learn more with them (since they are the ones you deal with during lab and lecture, so about 90% of the time) than with an adjunct. Then if you start with an adjunct when 2nd semester comes along you must go with a full-time faculty (which they make sure you do) and you're in a tough position where they are "expecting" you to know things that you were not taught enough 1st semester. so it's hard, I was very lucky b/c even though I registered late, I got Mrs. Ralph who was hired as a full-time fac. late for my clinical and so we got a VERY, Very great clinical instructor!

pinkynbd_99 is right about spots opening up if you are waitlisted... I got my acceptance letter to Montgomery today but I applied somewhere else I also wanted to go & have already sent my letter of intent to the other college. So I'll be contacting Montgomery soon to let them know. My points were 11.43 I think.. Congratulations to those who were accepted and good luck!

Hey Goo123,
I'm glad that I was able to make you feel better! To tell you the truth I was happy (crying really) that I was an alternate at first and not get a letter of rejection AGAIN! Then it hit me later that maybe I wasn't able to get in, but keep the faith! go to the orientation and you can find out what # you are. Have everything ready just incase you do get that phone call (which can be anytime). I know that even the first day of classes (the summer class) there were people that were just called the day before that they were in! I just needed to get my CPR, TB and Tdap shot only. I was applying @ HCC as well and was accepted there but really wanted NHC. I remember I was taking Pharm @ HCC during the summer when I got the phone call! Needless to say people that day must have seen this crazy girl Jumping, screaming and a Fat-smile on her face like WTH? So just keep going! If you really want this it will happen! But be warned: this is just the first baby-step, Nursing school IS SO MUCH HARDER!!!
