Any TCC students interested in these?

I have three study guides for the first semester Fundamentals of Nursing class. The study guides are:

Fundamentals Success: A course Review Applying Critical Thinking to Test Taking
Study Guide (Workbook) for Kozier and Erb's Fundamentals of Nursing
Nursing Fundamentals Reviews and Rationales

These are free to the first person who asks me for them. I used all of them throughout my first semester to help study for the tests, but I don't need them any longer, and I don't want them to go to waste. I think they are helpful because they have questions similar to what you will find on yours tests (NCLEX style questions) and rationales to help you understand them. I simply ask that you pass them on when you are finished with them. Anyway, let me know if you are interested.

I also want to pass on a word of advice about study guides. If you want to purchase additional study guides from places such as Barnes and Nobles, Borders, etc., do it earlier in the semester and not a few days before your first test. I did this and had a horrible time finding a study guide because a lot of the nursing students had the same idea and went to buy study guides around the same time. I finally found one after going to about a dozen places. Everybody doesn't use the study guides, but they are really helpful because they give you an idea of what the questions will be like on the tests. Also, I could swear that I have seen some questions on the tests that are almost exactly like the questions in the study guides. This is true of the Saunders NCLEX book also. I know a few of those questions were on the tests, especially during Med-Surg last spring.

I would love those study guides if you are wanting to part with them! I'm taking HRPS Summer 2 at El Centro and it's an intro to nursing class and then will be applying to nursing school, so even though I may not be going to TCC I think I could get a lot of use out of them!

They are specifically for the first semester of nursing school, and they are helpful no matter which nursing school you are going to. I will be happy to send them to you. Just pm me where you want them sent. I will probably mail them Thursday afternoon or Friday morning because I'm studying for my mental health final right now and trying to get things ready for my vacation. I have the test Thursday morning, and I'm leaving for vacation on Friday. whoohoo!! haha I will try to get them to the post office this week, though. I think you will get a lot of use out of them during your first semester of nursing school. You will probably see very similar questions on your tests.

That is really nice of you to give the books away to the next student that needs them.

It is the very first semester of nursing school. It covers basic nursing concepts such as legal issues, oxygenation, communication, medication administration, safety, infection control, physical assessment, etc.. I'm not sure what they call it at UTA. Is concepts of nursing the first semester of the nursing program at UTA? What does the concepts class cover? It may be the same. I'm just not familiar enough with the program at UTA to give you a definite answer.

At UTA you are required to take concepts, patho and pharm before admittance into the program. Unfortunantly though I was a transfer student and it is extremely hard to get into their program (as well as TWU's) as a transfer if u dont have like a 3.8 or higher.

Luckily though I feel that taking those classes will help my understanding of the concepts covered in nursing school!

I agree that they will help you a lot. I wish that TCC would require these classes before beginning nursing school, especially pharmacology. Most of the nursing programs around here do require these before entering the program. There are quite a few of us taking pharmacology this second summer session even though we are going into our last year of the program. I wish I would have taken it before. I also wish that I would have taken pathophysiology. You were VERY smart to take those classes. Sure, you can get through the program without them, but having them will definitely help you. What kind of information was covered in concepts?
