Any P/T Rn programs in Houston?

I am looking at nursing as a second career but need a progam that is part time. Anyone out there a second career RN? I currently am a project engineer with a BS in mechanical engineering graduating in 1999. Will any of my classes transfer over to any RN programs? I know there are a few accelerated programs out there but they are F/T only. Please help me, I feel like nursing is my calling and I really want to get into this field. Any help would be greatly apprecaited.

I think that Texas Woman's might offer some part-time programs, but I'm not sure if they do for the BSN. Most of the schools in the Houston area are going to be FT only.

The best place to find out about transfer credits is from the school itself.

You could look into the eLine program. The classes are online and can be done at your own pace/schedule. Clinicals are set up at a hospital near you. You could do either an ADN with Del Mar community college or BSN with TAMU-Corpus Christi.

Dont know about part time programs. However Kingwood College and Houston Community College offers full time evening plus weekend programs.
I had recently called Kingwood college and their Nursing advisor informed me that you go to classes from 5-10 PM on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesday. and from 6 AM-6PM for clinicals on Sat. So Thurs, Fri and Sundays are off for studying.

I graduated from TWU, and we did have some part time students. However, I'm not sure if they started full time and dropped to part time or if they actually started part time. I do remember that your nursing classes are good for 5 years, so you have 5 years from the time you take your first nursing class to finish the program. Also, TWU has a LOT of second career students. I was a "traditional" student, going to college and nursing school right out of high school, and I was actually in the minority at TWU.

I looked into the HCC program they do have a night program but I dont think I could swing it. I would be a ZOMBIE every day! I work f/t right now plus have a 14 month old son and a husband who goes to classes m/w and works until 600 every day. I dont have any family to watch the baby either. I wouldnt want to go to Kingwood either since I live in Pearland an that would be too much of a drive.

Has anyone gone thru that online program mentioned in the above post? That looks pretty interesting, I am going to check that one out more. Is it a legit program?

Thanks. Looks like it might work? Did you go thru this program or know anyone who has? Is it a legit and accredited program?
