Thanks for offering to answer questions since I have a couple.
1. Do women wear pant scrubs to clinicals or are we required to wear dresses and pantyhose
2.Will I be registered for two theoretical and two clinicals the first semester?
3. I heard rumors that they change clinical schedules on a short notice which would create a childcare dilemma for me.
4. At which hospitals do we do clinicals?
Thanks in advance, I am sure I'll have more questions as time goes on.
I am super nervous about the entire thing.
BTW Congratulations on your graduation!
We wear whites, your choice as to whether you wear pants or skirts. everyone that i can think of wore pants...
The classes are in "flexes" which means that you take one class at a time, for 8 weeks, then you move on to the next class. ...
The rumors are absolutely true about them changing your schedule, although it seems to be getting worse as the semesters go along. However, they do tend to keep you in days, if you had already signed up for day classes. During registration, we would sign up for specific teachers, but by the time classes started, it would be another teacher.
Different teachers do clinicals at different hospitals. I have done clinicals all around San Antonio. There is no way to tell which hospital you will go to, until about the week before classes start.
Any other questions, feel free to ask!! I know that i had tons of them when i started!!
By the way, at the orientation the week before you start nursing school, you will get a list of books. It is really tempting, because you are so excited, to go to the bookstore and buy. Dont do it!! They give you the list for the whole first year, and you only really need about 25% of what they actually tell you. Besides, they change books so often, it is possible that the book will change before you actually get to the class! The books are SUPER expensive (think $200 each), and you will only use certain ones!
PM me for my e-mail address, and we can talk more in particular about the books. I will give my e-mail address so that you can e-mail me right before school starts!!
