A friend of mine ranked ranked 49.8, placed 152 and did not get in A friend of hers ranked 51 points and got in placing 105. They accepted 121 students for Spring 2010. This is much more competitive from when I applied for Spring 2009. I ranked 49.8 and placed 75 out of 112. I'm assuming that there must have been a lot of students reapplying.

I do think you will get in the next time around with the extra points...and finishing any coreqs will help. They do take a few months to get back to you after you apply.

Thanks Texas Rn 2 be! Do you know how many applicants there were for Spring? I ranked 240 out of ? I am not sure.

I think I will be borderline again, as my 5 additional re-application points will only get me to 50. As a career changer- with a BA already, I already have my co-reqs done. The only thing I could do is re-take the 2 courses I received lower grades in to bring up my GPA. That would be a bummer though. I think I'll take my chances for the Fall and re-take them if I have to re-apply a 3rd time which would also be a big bummer.

Are you already in the program? How is it going? I'd like to hear what those admitted think about the program.

Thanks!
CA 2 Austin (hopefully in Summer 2010)

Yeah, but a 50 is really good when there are not a ton of students reapplying. You have everything done for the degree plan? Including nursing skills? Even 1105 brings your ranking up. I wouldn't retake classes, you passed and shouldn't have to pay more money to do so. Im nearing the end of level 2. It's been okay, but the homework was terrible this semester. Definitely take mental health in the summer, I did, but I am watching my classmates struggle with both med-surg and MH tests. Only two more semesters! I'm looking forward to moving on to level 3 (pedi and OB). I do the online option and highly recommend it.

I'm not sure how many applicants there were this time. The good news is that they did take more students than when I started.
121 vs 112.

Hi
No I wasn't released the petition to take 1105 yet. That should have given me the clue that I wouldn't make it in for Spring Hoping to take it in the Spring. They will let us know in December after re-applying. Is it a semester long class? Or, just a wknd seminar?

What would you recommend doing ahead of time (prior to being admitted in?) I have some time on my hands right now and would love to get a jump start reading some of the material. Which courses do you recommend starting with? Can I get the books online?

Yes, I've heard of the online option and will definitely do that. Where do you do your clinicals? We are still looking at areas to live, and I want to be sure I don't have a horrible commute. Do you pick which hospital you want or is it assigned?

thanks again for the great info. good luck with this semester and moving to level 3, I hear that is fun (I am looking forward to Peds).
Cheers
Colleen

Hey guys, It seems like there were a lot of 50-51's. I was number 87 with a 52.7. Don't give up hope CA_to_Austin, I had to apply twice. Without those extra 5 points I wouldn't have made it in. The last time I applied, they sent a second letter that included the number of applicants and the cut off rank. Oh yes, and a 46 is pretty good for the first time applying. I had a low 39 my first time!

RN2BE- I asked for the hybrid track (wont know for a couple of weeks if thats where they put me, but I almost instantly emailed them back with my preference) Any advice?

I am not part of the 121 that did make it in. Congrats to all that did!! I have a question for all who may know the answer. What do you think the odds are that some students that got in may choose not to start the program? Have you heard of students doing this? I hope they add some more spots for my sake...

Congrats to those who got in!!! I thought I read on here that last semester they had about 15-20 people defer admittance. Some people on here got turned down with the initial set of letters but then a week or two later, got a followup email saying they had people defer and they were offered their spot. I am in my last pre-req now and taking the HESI on December 18th, then submitting my application for the first time. So the rankings you guys keep mentioning is not necessarily the total points you got right?

For example, if someone has a 3.6 gpa in the 10 pre-req and co-req classes x 10 total number of degree plan courses + 10 HESI score + 6 for first time applicant = 52 total points.

But those 52 points don't necessarily mean that the person would be ranked 52 right? This is where I get confused with the whole ranking thing.

Hey TxRN2BE,
I have heard great things about the online program. So it is true then?? I heard the study guides were great and the instructors were really helpful. If I get in on my first try in Fall 2010, my first choice would be the new onsite Round Rock campus since I live only about 10 minutes from there.

Has anyone heard if they are expanding the program since they will be adding the new Round Rock campus? It seems to make sense that they would since they have the Eastview, Clinical Education Center, and online option already. So maybe more people will get accepted in the Fall 2010.

So ... then your rank of 52 would be put in a list from high to low rank number, you would be given a placement number (1 thru however many people appy). This time there were 121 spots (placement numbers). Does that make sense?

Sort of, so how does ACC decide between people who get the same exact number of points? Who gets the higher rank? My friend and I are both applying at the same time and when she and I figured out our total points, depending on HESI scores, we will be even.
