I do like to sit back and watch and jump in when I think I have something to add. It is fun, challenging, and a learning experience for me.I hesitated talking about another member in my post and I apologize for that. It was definately a compliment to your own friendliness and willingness to jump right in, rather than sit back and judge how unwelcoming and cliquish (sp?) the oldtimers are.
Have to say, this site is truly a great one. I have met MANY people, including you, with whom I feel a special bond.
Thanks for the compliment, friend. - Sep 13, '05 by Spidey's momQuote from CrunchRNI just have to remark on the term "clique". I define a clique as a group of people who act superior to others and don't let anyone else in the group. Like in "Mean Girls".I think this board is great, and a very good job of moderating is done. I think a little healthy debate is good, and if it get's out of hand it is quickly taken care of. It is a very diverse group who I really enjoy. I do see some cliquishness ( I know that isn't the right spelling) between premium members and non-premium members, but not enough to be an issue. Occasionally a troll finds there way into the conversation, but that is usually handled quickly. I do think this is the best nursing board around by far and thank Brian and all the other staff for keeping it that way.
There are no cliques like that here.
If people are meaning groups of people who are already acquainted with one another, then yes. But all those people were new at one time and had to jump in and start talking.
I cannot think of one person on this BB who tries to exclude other people from joining in the conversation.
Please, we all love meeting new folks. Start talking!
steph - Sep 13, '05 by mercyteapotIt is also very possible that you just think a poster is getting away with saying something, and that isn't the fact at all. Warnings aren't made public, and not all warned posts end up being removed.
- Sep 14, '05 by TweetyQuote from mercyteapotGood point. Rather than get kicked off for a first offense we get warnings. I've had a "Tweety please revise your post" before myself. :hatparty:It is also very possible that you just think a poster is getting away with saying something, and that isn't the fact at all. - Sep 14, '05 by barefootladyI can only say I do not feel there are cliques on the different sites. I know some people post more than others, maybe that is because we are not working at the present time and use these sites for a lifeline in our careers. I think most people on this board are nice, caring, friendly, open-minded and very supportative. I hope I do not offend any other posters, if I ever do, I will take my warning and attempt to do better. Please read us more frequently and attempt to keep an open mind, these people are awsome.
- Sep 16, '05 by mattsmom81OK...well so much for the 'mutual admiration society' (ya think this might be 'the clique'?)here at Allnurses. Please be aware that there are MANY members here whose opinions may DIFFER from yours. And they have a right to post opinions too......whether you like them
or not.
