SWTCC Fall 2014 Nursing Hopefuls

U.S.A. Tennessee

Published

Hi all!

Just wondering if there are any hopeful candidates out there for the Southwest Tennessee Community College Nursing Program for Fall 2014?

If so, do you mind sharing your ranking index score with me? Or your NLN? I scored a 132 on the NLN and wanted to retake it to try for a higher score, but was told that my score was "high" for SWTCC so I settled for it. After reading some of the posts on here, though, I now feel as though my score is mediocre, at best.

There's always the waitlist too. Some people that are accepted decline the offer or do not show up for orientation.

That's very true! Trying to keep optimistic, it's just hard to do sometimes lol

I was told their was no wait list just the top 60
I wonder what it was for last fall? How would I find out?
call & ask

Well, looks like we have different people telling us different things. The same lady who advised me not to retake the nln stated that people who do get in do not always take the position and they go down the list, that's why they wait till late March or April.

I have been on Southwest's case since 2012 trying to get all the information I need to get in. In the beginnings I sat with everyone except the actual nursing advisor. I was met with straight up rudeness and I kept asking until finally I got to sit with a nursing advisor to break things down for me. In the end, you have to be clever and do your own research. Keep asking until you get the answer. Use different approaches to get what you need.

We were notified in April last year for Fall 2013. Sit tight guys, it will be a while before they call/email :/

I was also told there is a waitlist. And I heard that from my nursing advisor, who also happens to be the same woman that told me not to retake the NLN. She has been very informative and I have never had problems getting in contact with her and she always directly answers my question(s) as opposed to passing the buck onto someone else and making me their problem.

@Bel985 do you know what the lowest ranking index score was that they accepted for fall 2013? Are you in the program now?

I'm currently in the program. I don't know the exact index score but I know of people accepted with mid 50s for our class. They were also calling people during the summer, as some did not accept their spots. I haven't heard anything about the new building, except it is "supposed" to be open for the fall.. as far as them accepting more people, I'm not sure. It isn't just about the space needed but the amount of staff as well.
