Southwest Tennessee Community College nursing students! How did you get in?

U.S.A. Tennessee

Published

I'm specifically looking for people who are currently in the AAS in Nursing program at Southwest Tennessee Community College in Memphis, TN.

What were your grades in A&P 1 and 2, Microbiology, NLN exam, and GPA; that is, what did it take to get in? I'm trying to figure how many points (QPA) I will need to get in. Each class (A&P 1 and 2, Microbiology) is worth up to 4 pts (A=4, B=3, C=2, etc.), and I have A's in A&P 1 and Microbiology. Trying to figure out what it takes to get into the program, as I'm told only 60 students are accepted every semester. I'm taking the entrance exam soon, and have a 3.6 college GPA.

If you could respond with your grades in the courses upon acceptance, GPA, and NLN score, I'd appreciate it!

Thanks for your help!

I doubt you will be hearing much more from the person you were communicating with. My friend is in SW nursing and she is so overwhelmed right now. I just applied and got a 148 on NLN with a 3.6 GPA. I applied to UoM as well because I already have a bachelors. She is making me nervous talking about her experience so far. But I know she will overcome. She along with the others feel like they are on their own.

I am currently a student in the program. I started Spring of 2010 and fixing to finish up ob. I had a GPA of 3.8, A's in ap1&2, micro, stats, and psychology. My nln score was a 167. If you dont get in the first time reapply. Alot of times if you are not notified you got in you are put on a list. If some of the students that applied and got accepted decline then they will continue down the list. Be sure to be prepared for this. It is quite a shock. I work fulltime and attend fulltime. The course load is a lot but do not get discouraged.

We are kind of on our own. If you have a bachelors and can afford to not work Check out Union university accelerated program. You are done in a year. I have a good friend there. She loved it. She graduates in December.

does anyone know what the nursing responsibilities are for antimicrobial therapy

BTW the SWTN program often feels like a nightmare. I pray to finish and pass. overwhelming overwhelming overwhelming

Hi, I'm planning on applying to Southwest next year, could you please let me know of all the required Pre Requisites for the RN program? Thanks!
