U.S.A. Tennessee

Published

just wanted to start a thread for those who just applied for the fall. last year's seemed successful.

i turned in my app back in february. i've heard that interview letters will go out this month. anybody else have any info? i work with one of the instructors for the program. this is her first time helping with the app process, so she was unsure of details.

thanks! best of luck to everyone!

Does anyone know if we get a letter regardless of being given an interview date or not?? I just logged on to MyNSCC and updated my address aghh I feel so dumb for not checking to make sure my current address was on there!

I think they DO send out letters eventually to those that did not get accepted and will give the reason why, but they may wait until after interviews to make sure they do indeed pick 50. If for ANY reason they don't, then they'll interview more people, so they are probably waiting until then to know for SURE would be my assumption. They should have sent the interview letter to the address you put on the Nursing application, not on NSCC. From what I understand, everyone that has an interview Wednesday has already been sent letters last week. Hope this helps!! If you want to make sure, I'd call the Nursing dept. just to double check. :)

Sorry it took me so long to respond. I've worked 5 in a row and I'm exhausted. No. I haven't heard anything. I'm honestly shocked. My GPA is high. I just don't get it. I've called, left messages, and emailed. No response. I'm not going to stress. Like I said, it's not the only program I've applied to. I'll get in somewhere this fall. :) (plus...they're missing out on a great student who will make an amazing nurse...their loss)

I called them yesterday and they called me this morning, they DID send me one to my address on my application!!! So I gave her my new one and shes going to resend it as soon as it gets back to her! OMG I cant even begin to tell you how excited I am! Im so glad I called and asked!!!! She told me to dress nice but thats all she said as far as the letter, she told me the time of the interview for the 18th though.

I finally got in touch with someone! ***** (who was VERY rude), said she didn't see my name "off hand" but couldn't look further because if you do it for one you have to do it for all. She said there would be a second round of interviews though. Don't know how much truth there is to it, but that's what she said. I guess I will just have to wait and see. :)

She was rude to me initially and took down my new address and then within seconds called me back and asked me what my old address was and told me i did get a letter. Her attitude was nicer when she called back. And at first she told me she couldn't tell me if there was or not goin to be a second set of interviews.

hmmmmm.......interesting. I'm just going to let it go and not worry about it. I'm confident I'll get in somewhere. My GPA is high, and my entrance exam scores were in the high 90's. I'm a well rounded tech, with phlebotomy experience, and nurses who take the time to teach me. I know I'll make a great nurse. Congrats on being in the first group to interview! I hope you'll post on how it goes! Good luck!

Hey guys. Just wanted to let you know there is an allnurses app. (not sure if it was released today?) it's for the iPhone and iPad. I think it's pretty cool! :)

Oh, cool!!! I'll have to DL it. Sorry about not getting a letter... but if they do 2 rounds, then maybe you'll get one then :) I'll ask around and see if anyone else has heard of 2 rounds of interviews or any more info on that and let you know what I hear! I'm sure you'll get in somewhere this fall! You sound like an excellent student and a really great person for a program, and to work along side! :)

I really like the app! Easy access! lol ***** is the one who said there would be a second round, but she was in a bad mood. When I asked about a second round she smarted off "well...did you go to an information session? It was explained there!" I told her I had, but some students were saying there wouldn't be a second round. She fired back, "well, obviously they didn't pay attention in the information session!" Her attitude was ridiculous. 1. She represents the program and the college, therefore she should be held to certain behavioral standards (just like I am at work!!!) 2. The fact is I am a customer with money to spend. They, like everyone else, offer a product. If the product is bad the customer can choose another product! (same way in health care...that's why we should take good care of our pts...they pay their insurance which provides our paycheck!) maybe she needs a customer service lesson. If I spouted off like that at my job to a customer (my patient) I'd be written up. :) just sayin. Now I'm done with my soapbox. Keep me posted on what you hear and good luck next week!!!!

Oh, and thanks for the compliment! I really appreciate it! I have a wonderful group of nurses behind me at work! They really do teach me SO much! This week I got to work with a life flight nurse (she's PRN on the copter and full time in L&D). At the end of the shift she stopped me to tell me I was going to make it through school and be a damn good nurse. (I spent the whole shift under her wing trying to soak up every bit of info I could!)

In my info session they didn't mention ANYTHING about interviews, just they had one. But they never went into detail about anything about it! Just what the points added up to. Nothing more. So, I'm not too sure what she meant by that. I didn't learn anything I had already read on the website actually. And most of the kids at mine asked the stupidest questions. So, anyways... I'll keep you updated! :) But I agree about being rude. There is no reason for that. Esp for those that are serious about getting in and calling to just ask. It's your right to know WHY you didn't get a letter. Columbia called me and the director personally told me why I wasn't accepted and she was very nice about it. I respected her for that. That meant a lot to me to know why, and I think everyone should know why they didn't get accepted or get a letter. That way you can fix an issue when you try again for those that are serious. Sorry you were treated like that!

I agree with you. I didn't learn anything I didn't already know from the site. And my session didn't go into depth about the interview at all. It was just that they had one and the points. That's it. Why didn't you get into Columbia? I've heard it's tough to get in. I know 2 people who were accepted, but it's been a few years since then. One was an LPN and one had an accounting degree already. My friend is thinking about applying for the next fall but her GPA is low. She's a biology major and will finish at MTSU next spring with her BS. I didn't even attempt Columbia. I never took my ACT and I would really like to avoid it now. lol Did you apply anywhere else?
