U.S.A. Tennessee

just wanted to start a thread for those who just applied for the fall. last year's seemed successful.

i turned in my app back in february. i've heard that interview letters will go out this month. anybody else have any info? i work with one of the instructors for the program. this is her first time helping with the app process, so she was unsure of details.

thanks! best of luck to everyone!

I have to go meet with the secretary on monday (I forgot her name already I was so excited I pretty much zoned out after she told me I was in!) What all have you spent on so far? I probably have to go in and drop all my classes I had signed up for! Do you have ur schedules yet? OMG im so excited!

No schedules wait. Waiting on people to drop & get accepted still before they schedule so they aren't changed 100 times. Background: $102, Skill Lab Kit: $94.28, shots & a physical (my titers were oober expensive bc my insurance won't cover it bc it's not mandatory I have them!), Books are gonna be around $600 of you order them off the Internet & one u can't it's only at the bookstore for $450 or something (YIKES!), uniforms for 2 pair is about $70-$100, Kaplan course $100, stethoscope if you don't have one, CPR $10. I think that covers it all. Most is due by Aug 9 or 10, the rest by the time we start Aug 27. Shew... It's a lot to take in & to do upfront! But it'll be worth it. It's only 9 credit hrs this semester so we won't get FT Fin Aid. 2 classes (8 hrs lecture day & 1 day of skills Lab), then we will add in clinicals in Oct & go 3 days a week then. :) orientation is aug 23 & 24, CPR aug 22. Then we kick off class the 27th!! I'm SUPER excited about it though! I'm ready to get going!! I'm sure Tammy will fill you in with all paperwork & details!! Everyone is really great & helpful!

oh wow! I have like so little time to get all that done! Have you gotten everything already? I work FT now so I have no idea when to even tell my manager!

did you get to meet alot of the ppl already in the program? Im going to feel like such an outsider now lol

I'm sure you'll have plenty of time, just gotta get on it a little quicker than the rest of us. There are some that's only gotten shots and stuff. I haven't gotten the Nursing Kit, Books, or uniforms yet (I've been dieting and exercising and waiting til a little closer because I'm in between sizes!). I still need my Hep B shots too. But I'm doing a lot this coming week! :) I've honestly not really met a lot of people. There were new people at this last meeting we had, too. I know a couple from being in classes with them and that's all I've really talked to. During orientation Dr. Waller said we'd get a chance to really talk and meet others and swap numbers and such. So, no worries! We've had meetings not really any time to REALLY socialize. :) CONGRATS though!!!! I know you're excited!! It'll be a lot of fun... hard and challenging but I'm super excited about getting started!

Excited is not even enough to explain it lol :) if ur on Facebook u should add me!

Just as an FYI to anybody ordering books from the NSCC bookstore, some of them are available already BUT the prices are different from what our handout says. I spoke to Ms S and she said to hold off on getting them (of course after I had already placed the order *smh*) they are trying to figure out the prices with the bookstore and the publisher.

Hello everyone,

I am a current student in this program and have some books that I am selling for cheap if anyone is interested.

Assessment - Jarvis, Physical Examination and Health Assessment 6th Edition

Good luck to everyone! We are happy to have you join us in such a great program!

did any of you get in with B's in prereq courses? did you make up for it with healthcare experience on your resume or high HESI/TEAS scores?
