Can anyone tell me the starting pay for new RN grads at hospitals in the Memphis area?

it does vary some, but average is about $23 an hour base

not for new grads. it is more like 19.65-21

For those graduating in May 09, August 09 they are finding jobs in the range of 21-23 an hour. 19 is a little low for the Memphis area. Most are up around 21-22, some higher. It will only go up. May 2010 grads will likely make more than May 09 grads.

what facility is starting new grads at $23/hr base pay on a regular shift?

the med starts off at 19.xx plus an extra % for bedside care (equates to about $21.65)

methodist starts off

baptist is $20-21 depending on the facility

don't know about st. francis

these are for regular shifts not including any shift differentials, weekend, or prn pay, and it is current as of september 2009 as i have talked to recruiting from all of these facilities for local nursing information. all of this information came straight from the cat's mouth

Please remember that it can (not always) be different for ADN vs. BSN. Cat's mouth or not, when I graduated in May (with BSN) I was offered $21.50 at Methodist, $21.71 at St. Francis, and Baptist was the highest at 22something. If it is less now then the hospitals are being chingy.

My advice for everyone would be to call HR directly and find out for sure. The ultimate reality will be when you have an offer letter on the table. Good luck!

Are the hospitals in Memphis still hiring?

Yes. Call HR and go onto website and apply! Good luck!

amazing! thanks!

I was hired as a new grad in Memphis in 2008 and I was making $21 or so an hour. I no longer work in Memphis, but the pay was always pretty good, IMO.
