Hi everyone. Now that the official October 15th deadline for submitting the application packet has passed, is anyone sitting on pins and needles like me?? I just learned that they would contact us via phone if we are accepted.

Does anyone know when they will start calling the people who are accepted? I tried asking the ever so pleasant lady  that answers the phone in the Nursing department and she didn't have answers to any of my questions.

To all of you that are waiting for that phone call, just as I, GOOD LUCK!!!!!!

When they called me, it was right before Thanksgiving. I think the Friday before. You have at least a month. I don't think the committee even sits down to review things until November.

Thanks for that info scifihippie...you are always so helpful!!! I guess I can stop sitting on pins and needles now :)

Too bad it takes too long! I guess now I will decline since UM accepted me within a week and a half. Plus I want my BSN anyways!

Good luck to you! My friend started this semester and it is tough. Her instructor is not very nice.

Hi there Nikki, I am waiting as well and although I'm not fretting yet, I know come November that will change! I was told by admissions they were expecting 400-500 applicants for spring, and although I have not called back to confirm an exact number, that's a lot of people for 60 positions. Like msturn1975, I guess a lot of those applicants have also applied to other programs so that number may come down some pending their being accepted elsewhere. I've met a lot of people applying for spring at SWCC and most have excellent grades and did great on the NLN, so it's going to be extremely competitive to be accepted. Good luck to both of us, I know from reading your posts over the last year you have worked hard to get into this program and hopefully we will be classmates this spring!

Hi everyone,

I have applied for spring 2011 at Southwest as well. 400-500 applicants?? Now I'm panicking!! Goodluck to you all and I hope to see you in the spring.

Hi there fleur-di-lis....that is alot of people to apply to a program that only accepts 60. As a matter of fact, that is insane!!! But I knew there were going to be tons of people applying. I am still going to stay very positive about the whole thing...I keep telling myself that I will be 1 of the 60 and hopefully you along with Applejacks and whomever else has been communicating on here makes it as well. I just cannot believe the time has come. I can remember back to January when I started the pre-reqs and I didn't have a clue as to what I should do and what next steps to take. I must admit that this site has been a tremendous help as I have learned so many different things from so many positive people.

Stay confident. I bet you'll be starting in the spring. I will say if your grades are good and your NLN score, don't sweat it. There are some people that started with me in the first semester that I seriously wondered how they even got in. I know one girl in my clinical that didn't pass the first semester and it was a relief. I really would have not felt good having someone like that as a nurse. I have to believe the 400-500 applicants is an exaggeration given some of the people I know that started.

If you're not accepted, consider it a blessing and look into Northwest MS.

If you are accepted, good luck to you!

Hi all. One of my classmates told me about this site so today is actually my first time logging in. I too started my prereqs in January this year with A&P I. I took A&P II summer I and Micro summer II. I have been patiently (slight exaggeration) waiting for the letter/call to notify me of my acceptance for Januray 2011. This site also gave me a lot to think about. I hope to meeting you all very soon in orientation! :-)

Hello kay_bee and welcome to the discussion. At this point, patiently waiting is the only thing we can do. I have actually managed to calm myself down and I am no longer freaking out about getting "the call". I am staying totally positive and I keep telling myself that I WILL be 1 of the 60. Hopefully we all will get to meet at orientation. That would be nice....let me tell ya! Good luck to you!!!

Oh dear lord 400-500?? Please let that be some sort of scare tactic employed to make us worry even more. At this point I can hardly stand thinking about it any longer. I have patience but this wait is just horrible. Best of luck to all of you!!!!
