U.S.A. Tennessee

Published

I am applying to the nurse residency program winter 2012 at Vanderbilt. Is anybody else applying??:D

Has anyone who got wait listed heard anything?

I was wait listed for Peds and haven't heard anything. I was given a list of possible interview dates (if selected) and the last date is in mid -Nov. So, guess it's a waiting game until that last date passes.

anyone have their interview yet?? mine is tomorrow and i'm nervous!

I interviewed Monday of this week for women's health. It was fine...everyone is so nice!

I interview tomorrow... Eeeeeppp!

Done with the interview! Woohoo! The panel's nice but the interview's intense. Not sure if I made it, but either way it was a good experience.

Hello everyone! I am new to allnurses, have looked at it a few times but never posted until now. I am so excited to join this discussion as I interviewed for the Pediatric Track on October 4th. While intense, the two ladies I interviewed with were very nice and I felt calm the whole time. It was also very nice to be able to meet Tracey! I have just accepted a position at a local hospital, but am really hoping for a spot in this residency!! It would be life-changing. Not sure how my interview went overall, but I am hopeful. I just moved from WA state, so we'll see what happens! Good luck to everyone! Hope to be working with many of you in the future :)

Hey everyone!!

Sorry I haven't been on in awhile. It's great to see that everyone is doing well. I had my interview last week. It was a great experience and I enjoyed touring Vanderbilt. It's a beautiful campus. I'm just hoping and praying for a spot. It truly would be a dream come true for me.

I'm interviewing Thursday for the Peds track. I'm so nervous! Anyone have information about the types of questions they ask?

To those who were lucky enough to get interviews..

Do you mind sharing what your GPA was like when you applied? And did you have health care experience or volunteer work? Extra-curricular activities/organizations (like NSNA, etc.)?

Also, do they want your degree GPA or cumulative?

TIA!

I have ~3.5 GPA, cumulative. I did do some shadowing/volunteer work while in nursing school, which was a bit tough considering I did a 1 year accelerated BSN program. I have a previous degree in Cell Bio & actually worked in biotech for 10 years before going into nursing school. I was an NSNA member while in school. Hope that helps.

I had a 4.0 cumulative GPA in my BSN program. I had a nurse internship last summer and assisted on a research project in school. I am a member of sigma theta tau and was really involved in my sorority. hope this helps :)
