I am glad I found this thread! I am also applying to the nurse residency program at Vanderbilt and have an interview set up March 10. I am very nervous as I have never gone through this process before. Jones.ah, did you find out about transfering your license to TN? What track are you interested in?

I was wondering if anyone got any moving expenses paid when they relocated to Nashville for the Vandy program? I am curious as I'm coming out of state, but it's not something I really want to ask during the interview. I don't want to seem greedy. Haha

Kris,
I haven't found out about the license transfer yet. I figured I'd better focus on getting through the interview first, and deall with that headache if I get an offer. (I might just go ahead and take it in TN) Anyhow, I don't have any idea about relocation pay; seems reasonable, but I'm sure that'll be something you could ask 'em before signing your contract if they give you an offer. Good luck on your interview! Post on here and let me know how it goes, will ya? Thanks

Hey guys, I'm not 100% sure, but I don't think they pay any relocation expenses at all. At least not for the residency program. We've got quite a few people from out of state and I haven't heard anyone say anything about that. Also, so far we haven't signed any kind of contract either. I don't know if there is such a thing. Just thought I'd share that with you.

Any updates on this residency program!? How did your interviews go?? Are they still continuing the program like usual in this economy/nursing surplus?

Im trying to get a feel for when im on my job search this time next year!!

Does anyone know if this residency requires bsn, certain # of patient tech/externship hours??

Thanks so much and hope you all found your dream job!!

Well, I got the position and start July 6th! I'm still waiting on my informational packet and have a lot to figure out in the next couple of months as we plan our move down to Tennessee.

Hi Kris529,

I also accepted a position at Vandy. Which track will you be in? I am in the Pediatrics Track. I'm also moving from out of state (Ohio), so maybe we can share advice along the way!

Hi there!

I am an ADN graduate with a previous BA in Psychology. My ADN GPA was 3.97. I did not have any patient care or externship hours, but I applied for the pediatric track and have been working as a clinical research assistant at a large children's hospital for two years.

Hope this information helps! Let me know if you have any other questions...I'm happy to help : )

That sounds good! My first track was Women's Health and 2nd was OR (although I found out later it wasn't actually OR and more of the surgical step-down variety). Third was ICU, but I think I am going to be doing Adult Health??? Lol

They didn't accept anyone for Women's Health this round and combined both Adult Surgery with Adult Health, so I am just grateful that I got chosen at all. They did say, however, that I could transfer to OB after 6 months. We'll see!
