Thinking of moving to Clarksville..any advice really appreciated

by wms

Hi!! I am finishing my last year in a BSN program at Goshen College in Indiana, my husband and I have been hearing some great things about clarksville and the opportunities that may be there.
Can anyone tell me about them? He works for an Excavating company and I currently work in an ER and want to stay in the ER.
Any suggestions or thoughts would be much appreciated
I am wondering about schools, job opportunites, cost of living, etc.
thanks so much for your time!!
Wendy

If you like small towns, sitting at home and do not want a good quality of life, well this place is perfect.

:yeahthat: What this person said. Kind of like a (somewhat) modern day Mayberry.

Cookeville is nearby and a much better choice. Cookeville Regional Medical Center is a great hospital to work at .

My sister worked for a hospital in Clarksville, TN...and she did not like it I believe she had about 12 pts, by herself on a med-surg floor...Clarksville is a small college town at least it was from 94-01, it has a mall, walmart, probably 2 hospitals, but believe this that Nashville, in some parts can suck in comparison to Clarksville. I would say it is not the worst small town surrounding nashville, but I would run from towns like Lebanon, Mt. Juliet, Madison, even some parts of the Hermitage are run down. I prefer the inner city of Nashville, instead of the suburbs of Nashville.

I have a friend that lives in Clarksville in Montgomery County with her family. She has adjusted and has even graduated from school at the university up there. The schools are okay especially with Fort Campbell not being too far away. Mt Juliet in Wilson County is growing leaps and bounds. It has some decent schools. These areas are more rural than Davidson County so you want to take that into consideration. Williamson County and Rutherford County are all the rave in Tennessee for good family living with good schools -especially Williamson County. However, Williamson County is one of the most expensive counties to live in TN. Davidson County, the county seat for Nashville is the pits in some areas and in a few areas it's nice. A few of the schools are decent as well. Downtown is growing. I believe there is another thread that references where you can get information on the various school systems in TN. Gateway is one of the hospitals in Clarksville. I don't know much about it except I knew an acquaintance that once worked there and she did not like it. It was too political at the time for her.
