by LPMRN

I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on the news I heard today. Is Baptist Hospital in down town Knoxville closing?

Hi! Yes they are going to close the Baptist downtown. All the employees there will either be moved to St.Mary's or Baptist West- or they can get a new job. I heard on the news that there are plans to build a new hospital downtown, but that is all they said.

Baptist Hospital of East Tennessee closed to inpatients on July 9th..The ER will remain till August 1st then it will become and Urgent Care clinic and only outpatient procedures will be done at BHET. Unfortunately with all the changes not everyone was able to keep their job. I am hoping htis merger is for the Best I do know without it Baptist would have had to close or sell out anyway.
