Nurse Tech Jobs

hey everybody!!! Hope the holidays are well with you. I wanted to know is anybody working as a nurse tech right now. If so, where? I was interested in Baptist and St. Francis so if you guys have anymore information about these places let me know. Possibly some recruiter numbers if you have them. I start clinicals in January and I'm just trying to get a job in the hospital now. THANKS and happy NEW YEAR, GOD BLESS!!!!

i know baptist has done away with the nurse tech program. you can either be a PCA or an intern I if you're within a year of graduation and an intern II if you've graduated but not passed the NCLEX.

my advice would be to call the hospitals' nurse recruitment numbers and talk to the nurse recruiters directly. they'll be able to tell you more than me. but persistence is key - you have to call them and call them and visit them and visit them to show that you really want the job. that's how i got mine.

Methodist has a 'nurse extern' program where you must be enrolled in a nursing school and they start at 12.25 per hour plus shift diffs. However, when you get to your last semester, you can move up to extern II and make $15.75 per hour plus shift diffs. Marie Gill is the Nurse Extern Recruiter at Methodist. Hope this helps and good luck.

Thanks for the info. Are there any requirements for the nurse extern position at Methodist though? I really want to find a job in a hospital because I'm in clinicals and I'm there anyway.

Hey who did you contact at the facility, and which one and how long you been an extern? There are a lot of Baptist hospitals and I'm not even sure who to contact. Are you a baptist student and when do you graduate? I graduate next year in December.

Usually they require that you have completed at least your first semester of nursing courses. Often, they require that you are within the last year of your program. Speaking from experience it can be difficult to get a job unless you are within a year of graduation. However, as one person already said persistence is key, so you can at least try. I would recommend that if you can't find an extern position, after your first semester you can work as a PCA at Methodist. You get about the same pay, do the same job, and can actually get benefits and start on retirement! Just my
