I really dont know where to start and dont really know anything about the hospitals if any of you know any information that might help me to decide where to start please post...

Hi,
There are two hospitals in Kingsport. They are Holston Valley Medical Center (Wellmont Health Systems) and Indian Path Medical Center (Mountain States Health Alliance). You can go to mshahr.com for RN jobs at Indian Path or wellmont.org for jobs at Holston Valley. There are also a lot of opportunities around at the local doctor clinics. Johnson City and Bristol is about 20 minutes away from Kingsport in each direction. East Tenn State is the local university. The only think I can tell you about Kingsport is you will get used to the Eastman Chemical smell eventually. Good luck with your move and job search!

Thanks,
James

I'm graduating from ETSU in less than a month (WOO!!) and have become fairly familiar with HVMC and BRMC. Bristol Regional is more of a small community hospital. I'm doing my senior practicum there right now. I spent some time on W2 (Ortho-Neuro-Trauma) at HVMC, which rivals Johnson City Med Center in size. Both places seem nice enough. I'm really enjoying my time at BRMC. Both hospitals are part of Wellmont Health Systems which does have a nurse residency (after graduation)/nurse intern & extern programs (before graduation). Many of my friends are involved in the nurse extern/intern program and have had really excellent experiences. From what I've heard the nurse residency program will try and place you in the unit that you're interested in. They ran a little short on places for students this semester, but then again most places do for December grads (we get the short end of the stick).

If you've got any other questions, feel free to message me. Good luck!
