new grad pay nashville

Hey guys,
trying to decide what I wanna do when I graduate in May. I currently work in memphis and I know new grads start around 20.50 plus shift diffs.

Last I heard Nashville was only around 17.50. Hubby is interested in Nashville (I am in info gathering phase right now about everything) Please tell me the pay has gone up! That is a pretty big difference. Heck even Jackson is now paying over $19 if the rumors I hear are true.

Any new grads working in Nashville that can confirm?

Would be cool to start some kind of a database with hospitals, pay, and perks (ie. loan repayment, nclex review courses, uniform allowances, etc)

I graduate from Bethel December 07 and I am also interested in the pay and perks of all the area hospitals. I have to deside where I want to work soon, my college will arrange a semester long preseptorship with the hospital of my choice. Please pass on any info you can gather. :icon_razz: I am interested in CCU, how about you?

Question Re: new grad pay nashville
I graduate in May. I think Vanderbilt starts RNs at 17.50. But, I think you would top out higher there than other hospitals. But, I also know of people that have graduated from my school and started out making 28/hr at Vanderbilt. SO, WHO KNOWS?!?!? Anybody out there know more about this than us?!?! PLEASE HELP!

I live in birmingham and the hospitals here generally start around 19.50 for new grads. Shift diff is anywhere from 3 to 5/ hour. St Vincents is 5/hour!
I will graduate in May also! Best luck to ya in Nashville!

Wow...that is a huge shift differential! Is that for midnights? Do you know if they offer an additional differential for Baylor shifts?? Does St Vincent's have strict 12 hour shifts or do they have 8 hours shifts as well. I know that some hospitals are going toward all 12 hours shifts only.--Sorry for all the questions---just open up your head and deposit the contents (-----here------)

A friend of mine's wife works in ICU there and he said their shift diff is $5/hr. she works weekend days I think and they are on 12 hour shifts, I did my clinicals there last semester. Nice facility.

Just to add to the rumor mill--a classmate of mine works at Vanderbilt as well, and informed me that all the nurses there just got a $3/hr raise, so starting pay would be $20.50. Vandy does have lots of fringe benefits and is a great place to work for (my husband works there doing medical research.)

Big downside--PARKING! You will have to park at a garage (pay for a pass) and walk to the hospital, which can take 10-15 minutes. It's not like most hospitals where you park and walk in.
