Parkwest & St.Mary's North are excellent hospitals.

Hopefully an RN from TN will have an answer for your 2nd question soon.

Good luck in your job search!

Check with the Board of Nursing about licensure information. Their website is: http://health.state.tn.us/Boards/Nursing/index.htm

Right now, the hospital situation in Knoxville has been affected by the merger of Baptist and St. Mary's health systems. They are shutting down Baptist downtown to rebuild on the same site. That leaves an entire 425-bed hospital to relocate its staff. Some are just getting laid off. RN jobs are a little short right now, but maybe by early 2009 things will settle down.

I would recommend East TN Children's hopsital if you are interested in children at all. I did my clinicals there and it was amazing. The people were great and the atmosphere was nice. I am trying to decide if I want to move to Knoxville just so that I can work there.
