Middle Tennessee Schools

I'd like to go to school to become an RN. I don't know Tennessee very well though, so I don't know what schools have decent programs. I was thinking about Vanderbilt, but was told that the 4 year program was a waste of time and just find a 2 year. I'm going to apply everywhere, but I'd like to know what my options are. Anyone have any input?

An education from Vanderbilt would never be a waste of time. It is an excellent school although very expensive. Look for scholarships.

I'm a single mom with darn good grades, so scholarships shouldn't be a problem. What schools would you reccomend? One of the nurses at the pediatricians office told me Aquinas is really good. I was thinking about Vanderbilt, Belmont, and MTSU.

Keep in mind that getting into a program in Middle Tennessee is VERY competitive, even with excellent grades. It won't be as easy as just picking a school that you like. I graduated in 95 from Cumberland University in Lebanon with a BSN and I liked it just fine. I know a lot of people who are on waiting lists and have tried for a couple of years to get into ANY program. There is a huge shortage of nursing educators here, so that greatly raises the competition. Good luck to you!

Thats why I'm looking at all the different schools. I plan on applying EVERYWHERE. I'll go wherever accepts me. Do any of the schools have special/outstanding trauma/ER nursing specialties? Thats what I'd really like to do.
