License renewal requirements

by mtngrl

I was so annoyed when I got my renewal notice......not only is there the fee but now there is "homework"???????? I have been licensed here less than 2 years, so I had no idea that there were these requirements. And they are supposedly to have been done the PAST 2 YEARS. So I have one month to "pick 2" out of fifteen. Is anyone else annoyed about this? If they don't like my essays am I gonna lose my license? (Yeah right) Does anyone even read them??? I think if you have a license in good standing and you are working why do you have to spend time you don't even have doing homework??

I know for years , I had nurses from other states ask why Tennessee was one of the few states that didn't have CE requirements. Now that we have some type of activity we have to do, I guess that generates annoyance and controversy as well.

There isn't any homework really. You dont have to submit any of those things with your renewal...just send in the money and piece of paper they mailed to you (renewal). They randomly pick people to submit evidence of completing those items and are letting you know what things they accept should you be selected to show proof. If you work you have at least 2 of the items automatically....job evaluation and some continuing education or inservices at work.

Well ok I read the thing 100 times again and it does say you do the 2 things and keep evidence of them for 4 years and it must be furnished withing 30 days if requested by the board. So I guess the sheet I got is just saying to do them but they are not asking to actually supply them with my renewal.

To find out about this rule it says go to www.tennessee.gov/health, then in search put board of nursing, then click that and click on regulations.

That's the good part. You don't have to submit the activities with your renewal. As stated before, just have ready if they audit you.
