I plan on applying there for fall 2009. I haven't talked to anyone from there, but I have checked out there website. It seems pretty straight forward. From what I could find on the site, it doesn't look like they require the NET. I am going to be applying to the Franklin campus. How about you?! If you find out anymore info, let me know!

I will be applying Spring 09. I talked to a co-worker who went there 5-6 years ago. She said they were tough and the teachers were not friendly but it was a good program.

Thumbs up Re: Information on Coulmbia State Community College
Hey, this is my first post, but
I had to let you know that I'm graduating from CSCC this Monday! It is an awesome program and I have had some of my favorite teachers ever...There was alot of turnover with a new Director when I was in nursing I, but that turned out to be a great blessing. It is a tough program, but doable and with some exceptional instructors! I love them and they made a huge difference in my pursuing this degree. Application to the Nursing Program is GPA based and highly sought after due to the reputation and lower cost of attending, so I suggest you apply asap. There was no enterance exam, however, there are some prerequisites... A&P I and II, i think along with Microbiology..

I am graduating from the Franklin campus, so that's where my experience is from...

Good Luck,

jill

The only pre-requisites to get into the Nursing Program is A&P I
a GPA of 2.5 and an ACT score of 19

They go by ACT, then A&P grade, then for tie-breakers they go with your GPA.

you have to have a 19 ACT, and a C in A&P, and a 2.5

if you have each of those, chances are you arent going to get in. since thats the bottom of the pole

shoot for a 22+ on your ACT and at least a C in A&P, and you have a much higher chance.

Columbia State Community College admits both Fall and Spring semesters. They have a point system, you basically have to have higher than a C in A& P to get in. I believe everyone that got accepted for the fall had no lower than an "A" in A&P1. Many students who got "B's" in A&P1 last semester retook it this semester to try to get "A's".

It also helps if you have a bachelors degree already; this waives the ACT requirement.

That is comforting to know. I got an A in A&P this semester. Since I already have an associates in another field, and my ACT score from 14 years ago was a 19, I assume that they will use that. Do you know if they waive the ACT if you have an associates in another field? With my 4.0 from Vol State and my 3.154 (14 years ago), I could have a possible 3.4 by the time I finish taking all pre-reqs. Do you know that the lowest GPA was that got accepted?

So that was the lowest that got in? The Volstate program thru TSU accepts at a 2.5 also, but the lowest that got in was a 3.7.

Yes, because CSCC only uses a GPA for tie-breakers. and because of how competitive it is - mostly people have the appropriate ACT+A&P grades.

2.5 is the admitting GPA, but it is not used as a factor until a tie has to be broken (and with like 500+ applicants, and 90 slots - a tie-breaker is not typically needed)

the number '500' may be a little inflated, but its close.
