Hi!

by Braff

Hi,

I'm new to this forum. Male/24/ from CA.
I am interested in becoming a Registered Nurse. I am enamoured with the medical field. I figure now is a good time to start towards my goal. I'm gettin up there in years. lol. And there's nothing to hold me back. I have no children, and I'm not married.

Eventually, I want to move to Tennessee. But, not until I earn a degree, and establish a work history in nursing (3- 4 yrs ). I figure, I can live in a ghetto apartment and save a lot of cash here in CA, then move to Tennesse and buy a huge home on a good piece of land.

Anyway, thanks for reading. lol.

For the price of a ghetto apartment in CA you could buy a nice house in TN. The cost of living here is wonderful as far as the real estate market goes. From what I've seen on TV (Flip that house) a small 3 bedroom house in an ok neighborhood in CA goes for about $575,000 as a total disaster to at least $750,000 once fixed up. I live in a nice neighborhood, my new home is 3,000+ sq. ft. we paid $227,000. Good Luck with your studies. Cheers!

In my area you can purchase a new home, 3-4 br, 2bath for under 400 thousand. But it will be on a piece of land with no walking room between your home and the neighbors.

For 400k you could buy the nicest home in my county lol.

You know we hear about that big $ in cali but cost of living is SO high (these are just my general comments blabbering after just working a 16h shift lol)

I think at least in West TN pay is decent for how low our housing is. You can make upwards of $40/hr on Baylor. A new grad can make $25/hr on evenings. Considering the reallllly nice house I can get for 150k-200k I think that is a fair starting wage. Of course if they wanna pay me more I'll take it! lol

You could buy a 3br/2bath home in east tn for about $75-125k with land in the country. And, still be close enough to larger cities (Knoxville, Tri Cities), to make good money.
