My wife and I lived in the Apison area east of Chattanooga and both worked at Memorial for a while before moving to Nashville.

It depends. My manager knew she was gonna get two crops of fresh grads each year, so she didn't really try to create an environment conducive to keeping her nurses. Consequently, turnover was upwards of 50% within a year. I think she was just an exceptional case though. I'm not sure about Parkridge or Memorial, but Erlanger is currently on a hiring freeze and looking at cutting some nonessential staff.

IMO that attitude runs rampant in this area andyours is not an exceptional case. We have so many feeder schools and no nursing shortage. Now with the closing of Erlanger North and some beds of other floors of the EHS, there are many nurses needing positions within the system. I do not know where all of the May grads are going to find work.

I'm crossing my fingers. Things are getting interesting now, with all of the Erlanger budget cuts.

Our unit just hired two new NT's but we are all experiencing being called off quiet a bit. We will just see what happens.
