Any West TN nurses here working in OB?

Hello I live in the West TN area and am currently working part time (2-3 twelves per week) at a small community hospital in OB. I love my job and have no plans to leave, however I would be interested in working PRN in a larger facility, preferably in the same field, just for additional experience. Also, there are times when our unit is closed due to low census, and it would be nice to have something else to fall back on. Does anyone know of any OB/L&D/Maternal-Child opportunities in the Memphis area? Also, if you work at a particular hospital, do you like it? Thanks for any info!

i worked at methodist hosp of dyersburg my first 2 years of nursing. it was a good place to work but also a small community hosp, like yours. i worked on the geriatric/pediatric floor and in the nursery. i would go back there if i ever lived in the area again.

how about st judes? it is an awesome hosp and it should have plenty of work opportunity. the history of the hospital itself is very interesting and so the stance of pt first care should make it a good place to work. check them out!

I'd recommend checking out The Med. They have a super L&D center, and they see all sorts of things. L&D positions overall may not be very easy to find, as one hospital in town recently closed it's L&D unit and those people have been looking for jobs as well.

Out of curiosity, which L&D closed? I had 2 of my children in Memphis (Methodist Germantown & Baptist Collierville) and they were both great. I'm a little over an hour from the Memphis area and I am not up on the latest.

Methodist Central closed their L&D. All downtown OB services are now at The Med. NICU services are at The Med and LeBonheur.
