And I'm not sure what exactly to make of my results yet. On my results it says my program is PN but I'm applying for the ASN. Does anyone know if that makes a difference? Will I have to retake the test? Also, if I can use these results to apply for ASN program, are the program and national average's different on the ASN results?

I emailed my advisor but not sure if they will get to it before Monday. I appreciate any info!

I was told that a score of Proficient is all they care about to show wherher or not you can handle the work required. Its not a test to determine the 'best' because some take it earlier in studies than others - si would not get as high a score but could very well be a top student.

I'm jealous! I wish we had it that way. My school takes each subsection for points. I just don't know if they will even use my score since it says PN and not ASN. I contacted ATI and they said the test is the same for both but said it would be up to the individual school whether they would use it or not. I scored 79% and was listed as Advanced. It listed me as 96th percentile for my program and 86th nationwide but I'm not sure if that is based on those taking it for LPN or ASN.

I think the PN means Pre-nursing. This is a good question for an advisor. I got the same score but know I can do better. Since we are competing with who knows how many others for top seats, I want to be more competitive. Congrats though, is this the score you wanted? 79% as advanced shows that our competition might not be all that tough :) Was is as scary as you thought?

LOL I know that's why I haven't decided whether to retake it or not. I mean if 79% put me in the 96th percentile for our program, dare I even waste my money and time? If I knew I didn't need to I'd rather spend my time getting my final A's in A&P 102 and Psyc 101. LOL I will probably retake it just because I know I can do better, I think it will help knowing what we already have can get us in (I was searching ITCC's message board today and found a post from those who applied for Fall 2012 and they were all getting in with like 163 and 161 points. If I pull my last two A's this will give me 170) so with the pressure off I think I can concentrate a little better.

I still haven't heard back from my nursing advisor and I tried calling but couldn't get anyone so I finally just got on their online help and they told me it's fine, that the same test is given no matter what program I'd be applying to. So that feels much better! I never thought about the PN standing for pre-nursing. Oops ha ha. I was really hoping to crack over 80 so it was a relief but a little disappointment at the same time to see the 79%. I think alot of it had to do with rushing because I was so scared of running out of time. Then I was afraid to go back to review questions because my computer was running so slow and after reading that paper before starting that said to not click anywhere outside the box and blah blah blah or it would end the test. LOL I'm really hoping that with the 79 at least a decent score for our program that the pressure will be off and I can take a little more time. I finished in 2 hours.

I completely understand. I am taking 4 classes this semester and wanted to get this test out of the way before these get too intense. Wow it is nice to know that 170 would make us competitive and we just might get in the first time. I need some more A's as well so I think I might wait until spring break to try and retake. Wow, you were done in 2 hours :) you sure were on the move. If I take it again, I know not to drink any coffee. That may have made me extra nervous.. lol Good job though. I hope we start together. Maybe then we can meet!! Well good luck with your classes and getting started on your new career.

Well I stopped in at the advising office today and they confirmed that it didn't matter. It's apparently defaulting to that since they started having everyone register online now. She also said that score is competitive in our program so I'm unsure whether I should take it again or save my last try just in case I don't get accepted and maybe do chemistry over the summer.

Here's hoping to acceptance letters in May for us! Would be great if we both got in and could meet! Thanks for all your help/advice with all of this. Surely helped me!

Good luck! I am about to take mine. I'm scared! Haven't done this kind of math in about ten years?

PN means practical nursing. Your 79 is your overall score, no matter the program. You scored top 96 for the PN program, not ADN or BSN. If you are going or ADN or BSN I suggest you retake the exam, depending on your schools requirements. I made an 89 and that was 98th percentile for BSN. A score of 79 would equate to roughly 85th percentile in a BSN or ADN program. HTH

Just an update.. I was excepted into two the ASN programs. One through the community college and the other through a University. I decided to chose the University mainly because when I compared the curriculums, the University has more clinical requirements and different classes. For example.. one of the classes required is Professional Nursing which has a Critical Thinking co req. Also Pathophysiology.. This will be extremly useful. I am also able to take courses toward my BSN and MSN which I plan to pursue soon after. Ibam very excited

Update!! I got accepted into the nursing program! I decided chose the University instead of the Community College though. The University has more clinical hour requirements and different classes. So instead of Ivy Tech I chose Univesity of Saint Francis! Got a lot of scholarship and Grant Money to help me out. Sooo excited.
