Teas V or Hesi

Has anyone started to study for the Teas V, Hesi, or any other test yet for entrance into nursing school? I apply for nursing school in May and wondering when should I start prepping for it.

    Hi,

I just took the TEAS V a few weeks ago!

Honestly, this is going to sound so bad, but I really didn't study at all and managed to earn a pretty good score. I didn't intend to study so little, but I signed up for the exam sort of last minute and had about a week to prepare. Unfortunately, I also had deadlines for school, and my schoolwork took importance. I did purchase a study guide that basically consisted of four or so practice tests. I think it was McGraw-Hill. It did help me because the style of the questions were identical, so I would recommend it. However, I did not have the time, money, or inclination to buy the ATI materials. Who knows? Maybe I would have done a little better .

Enough with my rambling though...basically, I recommend a study guide or two. Study when you can. Most importantly though, be confident in yourself and your previous knowledge. Oh, and of course, get a good night's sleep!

Hi, I was wondering if anyone could give me some background information about the Teas requirement. When did it become a requirement for nursing and what was the required pre tests for nursing before the Teas? I live in Florida.
I have passed 3 out of 4 sections taking it 3 times already. Course, I did not study very long for it either. I am on my 3rd career now in my 40's and I really want to be a nurse. Any information is appreciated.
    Thank you

It actually depends on the program you are trying to get into. The entrance test could either be the Teas V, Hesi, Kaplan, or NLN and etc.

I just started studying for teas, and then realized, I really don't have to study for the teas. I got the practice tests and scored in the 90's on both, talk about a waste of money!

I took the TEAs & HESI. I studied for the TEAs for 2 weeks & got an 82, which I am satisfied with since my programs require a 70 or higher. I took the HESI 4 months later & did not study. I got the exact same score on that. I would recommend seeing how prepared you are (through a practice test) and then pacing yourself based on that.

Where did you get the practice test for the TEAS V? I have to take it before May 1.

I bought mine on the ati website

Really, as long as you have taken most of your pre-reqs, studying for either one isn't terribly necessary. I refreshed on a few things that aren't my natural strengths and did great on both. Good luck!

    Study, but don't freak out!

Honestly, except for some A&P, I learned everything on both tests in high school, and I didn't go to a very good high school either.
