Other then studying ATIs TEAS practice test, what are great study tools/books that you used to study for the TEAS? How many hours per week/month did you put into studying for the TEAS?

The teas book from ati is a waste. The science is nothing like the book.

I actually thought that the ATI test book prepared me quite well for the TEAS V exam. It was the only thing I used for my studies. I spent 2-3 weeks studying for the exam. It's hard to say exactly how many hours, but I basically read through and highlighted all the parts that I thought were my weaknesses. Then I reviewed those sections at least a couple more times. I also did both the ATI practice tests.

I do agree with the science section of the ATI study guide may be a bit general and not in-depth enough, but I think that depends on your background. I have my undergraduate degree in biology, so I felt it was adequate for me. To really help determine which study materials may work best, you first need to figure out which section(s) you need review with.

If you having trouble with the reading section, then I suggest you try looking at some practice MCAT verbal sections and strategies. Keep in mind that they are much harder, but will make the TEAS reading section look easy in comparison.

I went through the book front to back twice. When I did the practice tests in the back, I'd look at the problems I missed and restudy those sections (i.e. if I missed a question about the heart, I'd restudy the circulatory system). When studying, think about other questions you might have/ how to connect everything all together.

I also used an online anatomy/ physiology course. The previous poster is right; the questions/ topics aren't exactly the same. But the field of questions is the same.

Plus, everyone is different. You know what you have to study. I put in about 1-2 hours a day for a month. I got a 96% and I didn't have to pay for other practice tests or sources, but I know other people who needed to. Best of luck!

This is not true. I studied the science extensively and found that the ATI Study manual does in fact cover pretty much everything you need to do well on the actual exam. The key is to know the material VERY well. Most people that argue otherwise simply did the practice exams over and over again and assumed that would be enough.... wrong! Just because one scores a 98% on the science after taking the same practice exam three times does not mean he/she is prepared. It just means they really know the practice exam- not the underlying material.

I didn't do the practice exams at all and I still beg to differ. That's my personal opinion.

You didn't even do the practice exams, and yet you feel confident in your opionion that the ATI study manual is a waste? You mentioned in another thread that you have failed it twice... are you *sure* that your opinion is correct on this one? If it were me, I would be a bit more self-critical here and re-evaluate my position. Ultimately, you are entitled to your opinion... but at what cost?

Read a bunch of the TEAS posts and you will find that most students seem to have done well on the exam using the guide as the primary study aid. Personally, I did use other sources to compliment the ATI manual but in no way would I proclaim the manual worthless.

You are essentially providing advice to other students on this one and so no... I will not simply let it go. You are providing an opinion that could sway others to not use the ATI study manual and this would be a huge mistake.
