Nervous about Teas

Nursing Students TEAS

Published

Hello all, I am a new member here. I decided to post about the teas, I know there are plenty of topics for me to go through; or my topic has been covered before but I don't want to go through every single page. Anywho, I am going to take my teas Nov 16th and I am nervous as heck. I recently bought the study manual from the ATI website and I am just curious if it really helps or not? If anyone bought the study manual and took the actual exam can you please let me know what you thought of it? Was it similiar? difficult? easier? etc. Thanks for reading/responding hope to hear from any of you :)

I used the ATI study guide and I think it helped me a lot, because some of the information dealt with things I learned MANY years ago. I graduated from high school almost 10 years ago so I really don't remember some of the basic language rules. I took the TEAS V twice, the first time I did fairly well in reading, math and science but I got a 53% in English when I needed a 60% to apply for my program. I was devastated because I have taken several English classes in my many years of college and have done well in all of them. English is also my only language so I felt like a dummy afterward. I decided to try again after studying my rear end off (with the ATI study guide) and passed all subjects and received a 77% overall. Not the score I had hoped for, but it allowed me to apply for my ADN program. My suggestion is to get the ATI study guide ASAP and study as much as you can. It may seem easy when you first read it but I'm sure it will be worth it in the end. I kind of skimmed through it the first time around and I ended up paying for it in the end. Good luck to you!!!

I cannot emphasize this enough, but the ATI study guide is a must! I recommend that you go through it at least twice paying attention to every detail and doing all of the practice problems for each section. I bought the ATI study guide bundle which came with two online practice exams. They let you know exactly what you need to focus on (they are a little harder then the actual exam). The English reading and math sections are straight from the ATI manual, but for the science section I recommend that you get the Mcgrawhill nursing school entrance exam book and go through their science section as well at ATI's. The Mcgrawhill does a better job going into detail with science, but you have to look at the science portion from ATI too because mcgrawhill does not cover a few topics. I also HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend that you purchase a book called "5 TEAS practice tests" by Mcgrawhill as well. The book has 5 practice exams which are similar to the actual TEAS test. I took the teas twice; first time I got a 68 and second time i got a 72. I am taking it again on Monday and hoping for at least a 85.

I will be taking my teas on tues! I'm so nervous! I just got the ati manual and have been reading it extensively. I've also been studying the McGraw hill text. I will let you know how I do studying off those two. I'm not expecting too high of score considering the practice exam gave me a 60%. But that was before the ati manual came in so we shall see.

Thank you, I'm glad it helped you now I can stop stressing about it not being enough. I only have a month to study, I hope it's enough time.

Do you know how much the McGraw book costs? I've heard similar things where the science part isn't covered much in the ati manual but good luck to you

Oh good luck ! And yes please let me know how it goes, I didn't bother getting the practice exam because the ati manual has an answer key in the back so that's like my practice I guess? But I look forward to what you think of the exam after taking it :)

Mine is on Monday! good luck :)

Hi there! I take the TEAS in 2 days through my school. I have studied with ATI study guide AND I have taken all the practice tests. I went from about 54 to 84 over time, but I felt the 84 was due to the fact that it was my second attempt at test #2, so I honestly did remember some of those answers. However, I do feel it helped improve my scores with their study guide. Good luck to you!

To anyone out there that has to take their TEAS on Monday or Tuesday, would you by any chance be in Georgia and taking the test with GPTC? Just curious as that is the case for me.....

Thank you for letting me know how it went, the agony of just waiting to take the test is driving me crazy.
