Just Finished the TEAS

Nursing Students TEAS

Okay friends, I just got back from the TEAS test and I am so relieved!! For my program there isn't a pass/fail grade; it is by ranking. So I was studying my butt off because I needed as close to 100% I could get to stay competitive. I only started studying a week before and I ended up getting a 90% on my test.

I am in my 3rd (and last) semester of pre-reqs and graduated high school in 2012 so all information is fresh in my head which was probably a huge advantage. The information is the basics! But we all learned it so long ago and never put it to use so we kinda just forgot about it.

I have seen a lot of people complain about running out of time... I finished with 18 minutes left in reading, 7 minutes left in math, 20 left in science, and 2 left in english. I used 3 books to study with. the ATI official study book, The Secrets of the Teas Test, and McGraw Hills 5 Teas practice tests. I never took any online practice tests and did just fine. My scores were 90% reading, 90% math, 91% science, and 89% english. I was greatly surprised.

Okay so here was you need to know!! Ask me anything and Ill answer the best I can. I hope this helps you guys and just breathe when you are taking it!!!

The book I used the most was the TEAS Secrets. It cut out all the fluff and was straight to the point of what you needed to know. If you are going into more depth than that book, you are doing too much. I think people, including myself, are expecting the TEAS to be like one of our A&P or Micro tests when in fact it is simple and we don't do good because we did not study the simple. Good luck to you all!!!

To study for the reading I used the ATI book and made sure I knew how to spot the main idea, topic, etc in any passage. In a lot of the passages, they want you to look at the big picture. Or on the other hand they only want you to look at 1 sentence and that's it. You need to be able to identify what the question is asking for. Take your time reading the questions/directions
