Nursing Students TEAS

Published

Since ATI provides no student assistance to interpret scores, let's help each other! If enough of us enter our complete TEAS scores, we'll be able to compare notes to see how we rank in different programs, what to aim for if your school requires a Program percentile rank rather than a series of scores, etc. There is another thread where people are sharing their scores, but it looks like most people are just sharing their Adjusted Individual Total Score or whatever applies to their particular school. By sharing all the info, we can help each other better.

Please copy the scores below and then change them to your own, in your post! thanks! Please make sure to check your Program Type! It's right under the name of the school where you took it, on your score sheet.

Thanks kansas_chick! I just took the test at the beginning of March. I think the thing that helped most for me was that my sciences were pretty fresh and so was my Algebra. I took Chem and Bio last summer and then A&P 1 in the fall and am in A&P2 now. I got a book of practice tests at barnes & noble, I think it was the McGraw Hill one, I gave it to a classmate so I'm not positive. I did all 5 of the tests in the book, and just reviewed the topics I needed help on. As for the reading/english parts, I have no advice there, I've always been a reader, it's how I relax, so those sections were easy for me. For the math, review fractions, I think there were some factoring type algebra problems, a few basic solve for x type ones. And one really irritating word problem that I STILL can't figure out how to solve.

I took the TEAS on Feb 7th. I took the paper and pencil test and got my scores about 2 days later online. I got into my first choice program. Took the computerized HESI last weekend and am still waiting to see if my scores were good enough for my second choice school. I got a 91.3 on the HESI- much easier than the TEAS.

Background information- I have a BA and a MA from NYU...changing careers and want to become a nurse for my second half of life.

Here's the breakdown of my TEAS:

Adjusted Individual Total Score: 84.7

ATI Academic Preparedness Level:Advanced

Mean - National: 64.3%

Mean - Program: 64.9%

Percentile Rank - National: 95

Percentile Rank - Program: 96

TEAS Reading: 90.5%

TEAS Mathematics: 90.0%

TEAS Science: 83.3%

TEAS English and Language Usage: 76.7 - I only speak English and clearly I don't speak it as well as I do other things. Oh well, at least people understand what I say and write- to a satisfactory degree. HEHE - honestly, I have a MA from NYU if my language skills were weak I doubt I'd have a 3.8 GPA from there. I musta blanked out. oh well.

Anyone take the HESI as well as the TEAS?

i had to take the science portion a total of three times (i never went to high school so most of the concepts were lost on me). my first science score was a whopping 35.4% the second time around i almost passed with a 54.2% (in my school you need at least a 56%). finally, the third attempt i passed with a 66.7% which i'm really happy about because i had decided it was definately going to be my last try.

Can anyone give me pointers on the English part to pass well get a great score lke a 93.3 like I did in Math my email addresss:[email protected]

Sure hope these scores were good enough to get in (waiting for acceptance/denial). Applicants had to have taken the TEAS V before submitting the application.

Specializes in Psych nurse.

I scored 85 in Reading and 73 in Math. Cutoffs for my school were 75 in Reading and 62 in Math. I attribute my scores being a little lower to the fact that I have not been in college for almost 20 years and I only cram studied for 2 weeks before taking the exam. For example, I had to relearn all over again how to do FOIL method in Algebra. LOL!

Just took my TEAS V yesterday:

I was sort of disappointed with my score, but I should be able to get into the program I applied to. I have a 4.0 so far for all my pre-reqs, and the TEAS cutoff for the nursing program is only 70%. Won't know until after June 1st, though.

I used the ATI study guide and the McGraw-Hill book with the 5 practice TEAS exams. The average of my 5 practice exams was almost exactly the same as my actual test score, so I think that it is a pretty accurate reflection of the actual test, although I was prepared for more physics questions but there weren't any on the actual test that I took.

I just took the TEAS V yesterday. My school requires 70% to apply. I have been out of school for 12 years. Oddly enough I studied science the most! I have taken Micro, A&P 1 and 2 as well as Chemistry! I had extra time left on the science portion and second guessed myself on alot of answers. I think I lowered my score :(
