I've been out of the clinical atmosphere since January 2012. I taught allied health at the H.S. level for 6 months but it wasn't for me and although clinical nursing had burned me out, I missed working with patients. I have almost 3 years of psych nursing experience and am going to be starting as a staff nurse in a skilled nursing facility on Wednesday of next week. I know that some people say a nursing home isn't a good place to work, but I'm excited nonetheless. The pay and benefits are competitive for my area, the facility is within walking distance of my apartment (0.3 miles), and I'll be working 8 hour shifts rather than 12's (I liked 12's but I'm looking forward to a more "regular" schedule).
Just thought I'd drop in with some good news!

Thanks! Yeah, I know there's going to be a bit of a learning curve, but I'm going to get through it. I just have to be careful, ask questions, and double check things!
