My short adventure in nursing land.

  1. My short adventure into nursing land.

I graduated May 2012 at the time I was working as a Tech at a local hospital and was 5 months pregnant. August 2012 I passed NCLEX and found myself without a job and very pregnant, so I decided to wait until after having the baby to start working. I began searching for a position Thanksgiving 2012 and recieved several offers by February 2013, 3 to be exact. I accepted a position at a Mental Health Hospital and quit in 3 weeks because of horrible working conditions and no proper security to help protect staff from patients or patient visitors.

I am happy to announce that I began another position on April 7, 2013 at the Veteran Affairs Hospital in a Med-Surg unit and I was accepted to pursue my MSN-FNP starting this summer semester. I am super excited and happy that I was able to spend the majority of my babies first 6 months at home and be able to continue to strive for success!!

    Thanks For Reading!

HEY! That is pretty spiffy. I work for the VA myself and this NP at my work was telling me that the VA paid her way through NP school. Just saying. Congrats

Congratulations to you! Isn't it amazing how the bumps in the road and temporary setbacks end up working to our advantage at a later date? I hope you enjoy the new job!

I noticed that the Journal of Nurse Life Care Planning has a whole issue on the VA, might be useful background for you.

I have been interested in a position at a VA hospital, so I was glad to hear that you found a position without a TON of years experience. Makes me hopeful!

Honestly when I interviewed I was still a new grad with no experience I only worked while I waited.
