I haven't read the whole thread yet....I just want to say I believe we were married to the same man. I also have found someone who does support me. I am a PRE nursing student.

I am so proud of your accomplishments! You GO girl!

I hope as I read this thread that you have updated it so I know how you have done over the years!

Keep your heads up women! If she can do it so CAN WE!

Awesome. I hope you rub your ex's nose in it. Creep. Good things happen to good people. No wonder your ex got cancer. (Don't take this the wrong way, I'm so glad he recoered.) No wonder you got Suma Cum Laude.

The original post was from 2004. I'd like a follow-up from the OP!

How's your career going?

Hope everything is wonderful for you!

Your story was so inspirational, it made me tear by the end because I felt so happy for you!

When goals take longer, or are harder, to achieve for some of us, I've been thinking of it as the universe asking us to prove how much we really want it.

I was hoping to start nursing school this September, but unfortunately I did not get accepted into the accelerated program for a prerequisite that it turns out I do not have. I have my BA in psychology, but am at a place right now where I know I want to be a nurse. It is sometimes discouraging to think that I have to wait another year to *hopefully* start the program.. but reading your story and all that you have been through to get to where you are today is inspiring, and makes me realize that one more year is not so bad.

Thank you for sharing! Best of luck in the future
