I started my new job in med surg about 5 weeks ago. Today I managed 4 patients. I handled it well, I must say.
I was terminated from my 1st job as a new RN last Oct. before making it off orientation for what I now in hindsight see as a petty B.S. reason. I cried, spit, cussed, wanted to put a hex on that hospital...you name it. But I was finally able to move on, and find another job.
I think I have found my spot!! I love my job. My co-workers are helpful and willing to share their knowledge. The MD's are approachable. The patients have been great. My preceptors have nothing but praise about me. I'm learning more than I ever imagined in this short amount of time. We have supplies, working equipment, people who come to work to WORK!
My 11 years as an LPN in LTC is really paying off, as most of our patients are over 60. I feel confident I will successfully make it off orientation. After what I went through, I sometimes feel like this is too good to be true.
